Did really good in Eufaula Sunday. Fishing off a open dock. The weather was light winds, partly cloudy and air temps in the 50's-mid 60's. Caught 27 keepers released at least as many dinks. Average size was 11". It was a learning experience though. I got the word from my brother in Vian and drove the hour and a half to see. The first hour, 10-11 a.m., I was vertically presenting a orange and chartreuse tube jig on a 16th oz multi colored round jig head, fishing at 18-15', all around the dock and doing no good not even a bite. Brought the depth up in the water column a bit from 12-10'. Still nothing. Discouraged and desperate not to have wasted 3 hours of driving and thinking of cussing my brother i thought maybe my jigs ain't acting right? So I reeled up in the water column in an empty slip to visually watch my jig action. Within 20 seconds a fat white swipe turned away from the jig. Huh? Yep. I started casting and retrieving around 4-2' in the water column and the crappie were thick. Switched to a 2.5" pink Bobby Garland with a 16th oz white swim head jig and the big ones came out. Fished from 10-3 p.m. and had the best stringer so far this year. I would post pics but I'm still learning how to without looking stupid. I'm going out to Oologah this Saturday and seeing if I can find some bank locations and repeat the pattern. Good fishing everyone!
