New member. Just wanted to post my results from Monday January 2nd. It was a nice day. Started fishing from the bank around 2pm. Had to be about 60 degrees. Light to no wind. Water was murky. Caught 38 in 15' fishing at 12' with Ruby Red's. Did all my good in a 50 yard stretch about 50 yards into the mouth of a cove. Only two over 9" that I kept. Looking to go freeze this Sunday the 8th and see if I can find anything. I'm glad to be a part of this community. I've been reading along time but this is my first post.

Winter crappie fishing is the best! At least when it warmer than 32 degrees.

I've had cheaper fish finders....just added a new fish finder with Side view. Going to try to find some brush piles. I haven't crappie fished the winter, but I'm going to give it a shot. Usually oct rolls around and I go deer hunting...then fish fever sets back in when it starts warming up.

I decided that I like eating crappie....why only eat them when it's warm out!

Went out Sunday. Caught one crappie. Ice everywhere. Windy. Really just wanted to get the boat out for some tuning spent a couple hours tooling around. The one I caught was on a retrieve from 12' deep in the rocks once again at the mouth of a cove. Seen piles and fish all over just none that were interested in the little window I fished.

Talala Creek has at least 2 inch ice maybe 2 1/2, i couldn't find open water as far as I could see to the south in Talala creek. Eastside ramp is about 3 inches thick, but open water only 75 yards to the west. The waves were 2-3 feet at high at Sunny side and Winganon, so I didn't get to go today. Maybe Wednesday.

That's the other side of winter fishing. Better safe than sorry. Glad you didn't go Doug.

Snuck outta work yesterday Wednesday the 11th. It was beautiful. Caught 16 between 3 - dark. The first 12 were at 15' out in the channel the last 4 were at 10' further in the cove like 25 yards from the bank. Mostly dinks but three keepers. One of em gave me nice 3/4" thick fillets. It was so relaxing and peaceful I hated getting back into town with all the traffic and lights.

Oologah is fishing pretty good right now. I caught over 100 Wednesday and kept 28. No big fish but my best 7 weighed 8.50. Going to be a fun tournament, everyone is going to catch a lot of fish. Just have to find 7 good ones. Hope to see a lot of you on the 21st.
