Fished yesterday from 5:00 pm to dark. Fished 16 FOW. Around 6:30 the bite turned on really well. I was dipping minnows in brushpiles. Kept 15. Largest was 14". Got raided by tiny catfish right before dark.

Maybe I was too deep as I fished in 15-20 fow. The bites were all in the 8-10' range on top of the brush.thanks for the heads up Reaper. Maybe Oklahoma Holdem for the non thump biters.

Fished Thursday from 7-1pm and caught about 30 crappie and half that many tiny cats. Kept 7 from 10-12.5 inches.all on minnows hit at a depth of 8-10 feet in 15-20 fow. . The brush that produced earlier in the week yielded the big egg but late morning we hit two piles that produced when we could place it in exactly the right (same) spot. The wind was up and constantly changing direction so that was tough. Would have had several more but I hooked some good ones that immediately fouled me in old line. The ones that managed to swim out of it were swimming in hot grease a few hours later. The one highlight of catching so few keepers is that we eat mostly fresh fish these days and there is plenty of room in the freezer for this winter's slabs.
You did a lot better than me. I fished from 6pm until 2 am last night with a friend and we each caught 1 keeper in that span. Perfect weather for a night trip. We really thought we'd do much better. Hardly any bites at all trying 6 different spots that normally do alright. After getting some rest, I launched my boat at 10 this morning and fished until 6. I caught 2 that would keep, baby cats were thick and hit one spot that produced about 30 dink crappie and no keepers. Sigh...

Sure was nice and cool on the water today. Wish the crappie would've liked it as much as I did. I thought it was gonna be a good day early, caught several pretty quick, but the bite went south around 9:00. Gave up around 11:00 with 9 keepers, nothin big, just good eaters. Caught another 6 dinks and 10 catfish too, Guess they didn't like the front that was moving through.

Went out again today, kept 5 that were 10" or better. Lot's of dinks, but the bigger fish are still few and far between. Caught them anywhere from 3' around stumps to 14' around brush. Water temp is down 10 degrees from last week. Fall frenzy might start early if we don't get another hear wave.

This will be my first fall to fish from a boat so the learning curve is steep(as always). Will they start out in shallower brush and then move deeper as the water temps drop? Be careful throwing those baby catfish to the blue herons. Those spines really smart!
Took the wife out Friday evening after work, didn't get on the water until 7:00, fished till a little after 8:00. Not much time to fish but we caught 13 keepers and a bunch of dinks. Storm front movin through had em in a pretty good mood.
Went out by myself today after the storm blew through. Kept 14 and added those to the 13 fish Peggy and I caught Friday evening. No big fish either day, had a few 12 and 13 inchers, caught more throwbacks than keepers. Fished shallow brush both days. Caught the majority drop shotting minnows. Wind was tough today, had a tough time keeping the boat where I wanted it.
