Went out Wednesday and fished from about 8:30 til dark. Sad to say I only caught one keeper and two dinks. All were in about 19-20 FOW and over brush. Got a couple of bites in the brush but got hung up trying to get them out. Not a productive day, but then again, I have yet to figure boat fishing out. If at first you don't succeed, use dynamite...But on a serious note, I am not yet discouraged. Thanks to all on here who give great information to us rooks.

I went out on Satuday for a couple of hours in the afternoon. I haven't been out since before deer season so I knew it was going to be tough. After trying brush in shallower depths I went up to Blue Creek and hit a couple of piles in 20 fow and nothing there either. I finally went and tried some deep brush in 25 to 30 fow and starting catching a few. I kept 4 and threw back half a dozen. Very slow overall.

Went out this weekend on Saturday and Sunday and totaled 62 keepers. The big fish are shallow. I was doing very well late Saturday afternoon until an Owl that had been perched in a tree for hours swooped down and grabbed a fish that I had in my hand. Guys I'm not kidding. This darn things wings slapped me right across my face and grabbed my fish right out of my hand. I screamed like a school girl. He got tangled in my fishing line and landed right next to the boat. It made direct eye contact with me. Luckily, there was a pair of pliers nearby where I could cut the line. Absolute true story. LOL

Was predator hunting years back when I was a young man..lol..at night was using a mouth call trying to get some varmits to come close enough to shoot for a taxadermy class I was taking. Well this big ole Owl swooped in and landed on a low tree limb right above our heads. My buddy wabted to shoot it right off. Talked him into waiting..bad idea..after a few more minutes using the mouth call my buddy started hollering and took off thru the woods screaming...He was in total shock..he was wearing a sock cap with a white fuzzy ball on top and that OLE OWL took it right off his head along with leaving several scratches across his scalp...so yeah I totally believe you Crappie Hog.......Ranger

Now don't catch all those crappie. I haven't got out at all. Wife is still down. I want to take my new boat out for it's first fishing adventure and catch fish. Hope I can find them when we go. Only place I have ever fished or been on Oolagah is that creek on 60 hyw on north end where sand bass run. Don't know lake at all. I hope I can get out this weekend. Hope ,,,

Crappie Hog . That owl story is too crazy to be made up! How shallow did you find them? Spawning shallow or brush? Did you note the water temp? I haven't been out in two weeks so I have lost track of clarity, lake level etc. Thanks to you and Reaper we know the owls didn't eat ALL the crappie in Oologah. Thanks for your report.

Sounds like you're taking about Big Creek. Might be a good bet for this coming weekend.
If you're talking about Double Creek, you'd best head further south on 169 towards wigganon bridge to get to the east side of the lake, or hit Talala Creek ramp at Vada Point. Double Creek area is way too shallow and you'd have to go about 2 miles through a submerged stump field to get to safe waters. Not very friendly for new or old boats. Spencer Creek or Blue Creek may be your best bet since you're not familiar with the lake. I fished Talala Creek today very hard and caught 12 dinks and three that would barely keep. If the warm weather keeps up, the deeper creeks should see the Crappie start moving again. Hope we don't get too much rain.

a lot of the varmit stories are really true ---- had a few myself ---- true or false ---I went to spencer monday and worked it hard. Coming around a point I came across an old car body. I flipped a jig in the drivers side window and POW! what a hit. A big old paper mouth CRAPPIE running back and forth inside the car. I tried my best to turn her then...................she rolled up the window and cut my line! ---- cant wait for 50s water temp ---- may have to break out that window advantage me ---- God bless and have a good day --RC

No that is it. Big Creek. Well good I may try to get out Sunday and drop my first line out of my new boat. Thanks. I at least know my way around down there all the way in main creek to the main lake which is usually silted in. I would stay in big creek and fish it Sunday if the wife can. thanks again.

RBC, I see you got jokes. LOL As crazy as it sounds, I was just as embarrassed to tell it. For awhile, I'm sure
I'll be paranoid as hell. LOL. The fish are anywhere from 4' to 18' deep. I caught most of the larger fish in about 6' with jigs. The water temperature at the time was 47 degrees. I fished around buck brush.
