We fished Blue creek today from 2-5 pm and did not get a bite. We marked several fish but could not buy a bite. We tried the same areas that we caught them last week and tried deeper also. Water temp surprisingly only had dropped 3 degrees. I guess the weather affected the fishing here.

Fished Blue creek pits yesterday and today. Fished from 2pm to 6 pm both days.
Caught 5 keepers Mon, and 15 keepers today in the high winds. Water temp 49 to 52, spider rigging jigs, slab slayers and beaver tails. Red jig head w/pumpkin seed and electric chicken colors seemed to worked best for me. no big fish, all keepers between 10'' and 12".

The pond fishing was red hot yesterday! My son got home from school; grabbed his fishing ploe, a pocket full of jigs and went to the pond to give it a try. The wind was really blowing hard, so he didn't put the boat in - he just cast from the bank, but that was all he needed to do! I sat in my lawn chair and enjoyed the entertainment! He immediately was catching crappie and other fish of all sizes, and on about every other cast! He pulled out several (4 - 5) real nice 12 - 14 inch crappie and a lot of smaller crappie with a couple of big hybrid bluegill thrown in. But, the real excitement was when that big 7 pound black bass decided to knab his little crappie jig! Oh how that fight was fun to watch! He was armed with a Ultralight rod, 6 pound test! That little cardinal reel was a singing; and the little boy was screaming while dancing a jig up and down the bank!!! Me and momma was cheering him on, and when that big bass went airborn I knew he had his hands full! I didn't want to interfere, so I just watched and told him I was there if he needed help. But, he didn't! After several minutes and some close calls, my little buddy eventually got that big bass winded and pulled in the shallows! When he finally got a hold on that big bass and lifted him up for all to see, his face was lit up with sheer fishing happiness! He admired his prize catch for a minute or two and then released it to fight again another day. He kept talking about that fish till he fell asleep! Is there anything more enjoyable than watching a kid catch a big fish! Oh, that made my day!!!! Good luck everyone...

Great story Bighook. It is good to see kids get out and enjoy the outdoors instead of sitting and watching tv or playing video games. Those are memories both of you will enjoy for a lifetime.

Great story bighook, I would have loved to watch that happen! I bet the look on his face holding that fish was worth a million bucks...

Fished Blue creek this morning in the wind. Managed to catch 8 fish, 5 nice crappie, 1 short crappie, a bass and a perch. Did I mention the wind!!! Finally gave up shortly after noon, licked my wounds and got ready for another day. My opinion is the lake dropping 6 inches a day isn't helping the shallow water bite. The water temp is warm enough, but the fish are hesitant to move shallow with the water falling, just my theory. Headed back to Eufaula next week.

Struck out at Oologah today, first time to go in awhile. I believe it was just too nice out today for the fish to bite. I fished Blue Creek and then ran up to Spencer creek. Tried fishing deep and shallow but could not even get a bite. I caught 1 bass and that was it. Mostly casting jigs and vertical jigging. Guess I'm gonna have to learn how to start trolling, I did see alot of suspended fish at bout 15 - 20 feet deep, so it may have been a good day for that.

I did see one boat in Blue Creek catch a keeper and some dinks. The warmest water temp I found was the back of Spencer creek 62 degrees in the afternoon but no activity with shad and nothing on the locator.
