Hey I believe it.
I have caught a few 19"ers and even a 20 1/2 at panther creek before. Didnt weight them though.
Last year my wife caught one at talala creek that weighed 2 3/4.
Personally, I saw one at the waters edge at the bank last year that would have gone over 3. I was scavenging corks and walked up on it.
Anyone see the 4+ on the main board last month? That thing was huge. Did you see the 5+ Redear caught out of the Colorado River?
That was a nice crappie !!!!
My largest was a little over 16 1/2" 3# torpedo. In the past, 2# fish were sparse but regular at I-40 and Richardsville, but much over 2# pretty rare.
I have talked with the NW regional fisheries supervisor today and he talked with the NE regional biologist yesterday and nothing was mentioned about any 5# crappie. If there had been a fish of this size caught anywhere in the NE quadrant they would be after it like a toad ona junebug. I believe it is just another rumor.
Heard some reports that Spencer Creek is producing real well the last couple of days. One report of 190 caught on Sunday. Should have known I was fishing Skull Hollow.
Went fishing this morning at Vada Point, caught 35 in about 3 hours. 12 were large females over 12 inches and full of ripe eggs. All were caught with minnows in 2 foot of water.
