I fished Spencer two or three years ago but my trip was in a kayak and in an area that lies East of a ranch road that crosses the arm of that creek, well off the lake. I found several good fish in shallow water but that location is no place for a bass boat. So, I went again today and put in at the SC landing. I went up into the east end of the creek, into the stumps, and fished the skinny water but found nothing along the banks or in the channel. I saw a lot of fish in the deep water (15-25') along the south banks of SC but one of my locators went on the fritz and I'm not good enough to find and catch them in open water. Had a great day though and the lake was beautiful.
I fished the Spencer Creek area Saturday late afternoon and caught 23 in an hour and a half. Fishing 12 foot of water with a minnow 3 foot under a bobber over brush. Steady bite until 6pm then they just shut off.
I wish I had been with you. What kind of boat were you in?
I saw a couple of trackers out there. I have a new 15' pewter colored War Eagle that I'm learning to use. Still breaking in the motor and learning to use my Lowrance units, hoping I can learn to catch crappie when they're on structure in open water. Tough gig from what I can figure so far.
If I ever see you out there I'll point you to some pvc stake beds if you're able to set waypoints. Those should be holding a few fish soon. I'm cheap so I put in at the Winganon ramp with a white Tundra and an ODWC license plate.
Planned to go out tomorrow but with projected 40mph wind gusts, I think I'll stick to yard work.
I'd like to know who owns a Camoflage G-3. This person has fished Talala Creek a couple of times and did it at least once with trolling motor power only. This person now has a motor on their boat. Who ever this person is needs to man up and contact me through a pm. We need to discuss something and you do not want to discuss it with me while out on the water. Evidently I told the G-3 owner to fish there.
Reaper sounds like you may be wanting to get personal with this feller!!! LOL
Thanks Cope, I hope to see you there sometime. I'm trying to learn to use my electronics and I'm getting there slowly. To me, that's almost as enjoyable as the actual fishing. Good luck, stay safe and thanks for the information.
