Thanks Kenny. Nice to hear a positive report from the Big O which has been the Little o for way too long now.
Is anyone crappie fishing???? I been doing a lot of cat fishing. But I got crappie fever.
with the big O 3' high and falling and muddy it will be a few weeks before i get back on it. It has been hard enough when its has "good conditions". I have not heard of anyone else fishing it. Crappie Whisper, you been?
Fished main lake brush piles Saturday morning and found crappie everywhere. Only problem is that they were too short to keep. Fished from 6am till 1pm and finally caught 8 big enough to keep with 6 of those coming from one small pile. I fished with minnows and water visibility was about 12" everywhere I went. Took a full 1/4 pound of minnows to get those 8. Maybe I should have tried jigs? I use jigs on Eufaula and minnows on Oologah, that's just the way it is.
Caught a bunch more little ones today, went through the minnows even faster this time. Couldn't find the brush holding the bigger ones again but not for lack of trying. Tried at least 15 maybe 20 different spots.
I hate reports like this one but its the truth regardless. Fished with ledge and iceman and his son Daniel all over mid lake most of the day with the exception of time well spent putting in new brush piles. We were fishing in the nursery and daycare all day no matter where we went. I don't think we had a fish that would fill you hand. Fished jigs almost exclusively. The few minnows we used got the same results. Water was gorgeous for Oologah with good visivility just about everywhere. We caught fish from 5fow to 12fow.
Dinkagaa has been horrible. Dinks 6"-7" can be found almost everywhere, but the bigger fish are virtually non existent. I caught 3 yesterday that were 10" but that was it. Those are the only keeper fish that I've caught in three trips out within a week. Most hits 2-6' deep in about 10' of water.
:popcornGlad to see you are still alive and searching Reaper and thanks for posting even dink results. My fantasy is that those shorties will all live and grow up to restore The Big O to its former glory days. The lake just needs more Cat Hunters to reduce predation and we are there........maybe......hopefully.
Dinkapalooza.
