Crappie Ciller, we did best in a couple of spots in 21 an 26 foot of water. Seemed like 12ft to 14ft was the magic depth each day even though a lot of the time the sonar showed the fish in 16 to 22ft. We were sitting on brush, but I think the fish were chasing shad. We could predict when the bites would come some of the time just by watching them move through on the sonar.
Does anybody know of a good guide on oologah lake.i am wanting to set something up for this summer want to make sure i will get my moneys worth.i appreciate any help i know there are a lot of great fisherman up there who kill them but never heard of anybody doing any guiding.I know eb is the man on eufaula but who is it for oologah?
If it were me, I'd be begging DeerHuntingOdie on here to take me fishing. Don't think he's guiding, but just look him up on this thread (you'll see that he has a lot of post on this thread by reading earlier post) and ask him.
i have been following his posts for while and they are what got me hooked on the crappie. i thought i saw once that hes considered it before but something i would be interested in for sure thanks appreciate the input.
I'd be more than happy to take you out this summer. Won't cost you a dime either. Doug gets around more on the lake as a whole as he's got a lot nicer boat. I hold to certain areas simply to avoid the wind. Kevin (Whisperer) is another that can put you on some fish. Oologah Crappie can be finicky depending on the water level and whether it's on the rise, or fall. Fishing this years spawn was extremely tough as the lake has been in yo-yo mode thanks to the heavy rains this Spring. I didn't get much of a chance to check things out as I've been busy moving and trying to make a living. I now live about 400' from the Talala Creek boat ramp which completely breaks my heart.:biggrin I'll soon be able to get back in the groove of filling the freezer. DeerHunterOdie is the man, he lives on the lake and usaully knows what the fish are doing. I dont know if you can get him to guide you though. You will just have to ask him. Now if Odie is too busy, and you can get him away from his chickens, George is really good on that lake as well! EB
reaper i am going to have to take you up on that offer. i am limited also on the lake due to my 14' vbottom i normally fish blue and spencer and would love an opportunity to learn from and pick up some new techniques. it would be an honor for me to be able to get out with with some of the "elites" on oologah. i will be in touch for sure. my main thing is i know alot of people are busy and get limited time on the water due to there family obligations and work. so i want to make sure it is worth your time. thanks again good luck on the lake
Hey guys I haven't been able to get out. What's the pattern? Are they suspended in the creek channels or are they in the brush. Hoping to get out one of these afternoons and see what I Can catch.
ODIE AKA DOUG is the man to help ya on Oologah. He consistently catches fish and you couldn't find a nicer fella to talk to about crappie fishin. Reaper aka Craig knows how to catch em too, and the same goes for him. Meatdragger aka Robert catches a ton of fish too and he's real helpful too. I fish alone some of the time and wouldn't mind helping someone out too. I don't think its in any of these guys nature to charge someone to help them catch fish, but I know some of their knowledge is probably worth it.
okfishingfanatic, the lake is finally coming down with 8,000 going out and less than a 1000 coming in. It looks like its at 7 feet up today and should be at 3 or 4 feet up by this weekend. I fished everyday last week and fished over brush piles. We didn't kill the crappie, but the fishin was improving. Seemed like the fish were chasing shad and we caught the majority in 12 to 14 suspended above the brush piles in 21 to 26fow. Best advice I could give you is look for fish on your sonar and fish the brush piles close by. You might find it hard to fight off all the sandbass like we did, but after all this high water, if it bends your rod and puts up a good fight its fun to me. My fish hungry Kansas buddy didn't mind takin home all those sandbass fillets.
