Last 2 days with clients. Day 1 was 25mph swirling north winds which made for tough fishing conditions. We managed to get it done but the size was down a bit from past days. At got up to 55 late in the day. Technique was double dipping crappie kickers on Todd Huckabee Rods. Depth was 8' to 16'.
Day 2 started off with a thump and lots of them. As soon as the breeze picked up the bite went south. We left the shallow banks 6'-8' bite and headed to fish wood. We could pick up 3-4 off each pile and today the size was much better. BF was 1.81. WT got up to 60 late in the day and we caught our last fish again on the shallow bite. Again technique was double dipping crappie kickers on Todd Huckabee rods.......Ranger

Unexpected quick trip with my pops to the north side. Tried some new things, minnows and jigs. Bringing home 21 nice ones from 10-15. Fish seemed to move away from shallow water

Fished Eufaula twice yesterday. Wanted to try the Longtown arm for the first time. Very fishing looking area, but I could not find many crappie. Went from that narrow mouth to the shallows way south to no avail. Some bass and catfish fisherman out but no one fishing for crappie that I saw. Pulled 2 out of a pile by the launch before I left. I wanted to get away from the crowder because, well... you know. Lot was full, people parking in the dirt. What is that, 40-50 parking spaces? Hit 8 piles caught 20 keepers, 5 good ones 1.25 to 1.62. Most people were not doing very well from those I spoke with and what I could see. I think maybe it got better late, water got up to 62.

Planning on camping/fishing this next weekend with my nephews but not familiar with Eufaula yet. I'm thinking of setting up at Gentry creek area. Was told there are good bank fishing spots nearby. Is that the case or should I pick a different spot on the lake. Advice is needed & appreciated

Cleaned 35 nice crappie from fishing on the dock all this week, 3 of them nice hogs. Battery is weak in my scales and couldn't weigh the largest, but I guess around 1-3/4 lbs. Females all have eggs and I figure the spawn is not that far away.

I can see the writing on the wall, hope I'm wrong, but afraid I'm right. Last year in March, everything was fine as far as water level on the lakes state wide. Then came the rain..........more rain, and more rain. By mid-summer, every lake was extremely over filled. Crappie have started to bite lately, just like last year, but the weather man is calling for chances of rain all this coming week. Looks like a repeat of last year and if that happens, there will be no spawn.......or at least a spawn within reach of us.

Stink I can tell you that there was a great spawn last year. . . . I'm catching more two to three inch crappie in my cast net than shad. Fished Saturday only boating a few dinks around crowder and blocker. I did have a first though. . . While casting my net I caught an old Christmas tree and all the crappie sitting around it. . . Maybe I should just throw all my jigs away lol.
