Brian, did the females have eggs that look ready to spawn? All the fish I cleaned last night had perfectly formed egg sacs and looks like they're ready to spawn.

Yes all the fish I have cleaned since November have had eggs! Remember its about Moonphases that push them to the shallows! We will have three big waves! March April and May! I'll bet back in the shallow creeks there is some 60 degree or warmer water today! When we see 50 degree nights the fish begin to get really active! We will catch them somewhere with a cork and jig this weekend

Eb how do you think the moon phase relates to the spawn? Just trying to learn something new.

AC, I'm right across from Arrowhead State Park in Arrowhead Estates and usually fish from a friend's dock. The fishing has picked up over the last two weeks and as the temperature continues to rise, so will the bite. I'm sorry that I haven't any fishing reports for any other areas here on the lake, but I am observing increased fishing activity in the Crowder area, especially on their dock and at the culverts along highway 69 at Crowder. Good luck to you and your wife, hope you fill your basket everyday.

Hey Redge, no one really knows for sure why the schools make a huge push to the shallows the three days of the the full moon or the new moon phases. Temps play a huge role when the water temps reach 50-58. The fish start staging, eatin everything in sight. This is because the shad go to the shallows along with perch, darters, and other juvenile fish. The spawn peaks on the last moon phase when temps are round 75 degrees. But also keep in mind how many crappie are in a lake, especially lake Eufaula, and how many areas fish differently! I have caught them spawning from the first week in March all the way to the second week in June. There are always huge fish caught on the moon phases though! Remeber they go to the bank in steps, a little shallower at a time! EB
