Here is a report! We spider-rigged the north end of the lake today. Mostly minnows, water was dirty fish were shallow! 3-5ft in whatever depth you wanted to be in, we were targeting slack water off the main current. Lots of small fish though. We ended up with 45 between two boats! EB

We fished a culvert Friday and had 18 keepers, alot of 10-11" crappie and too many Sandbass, mostly minnows fished off bottom.Yesterday fished Bugtussel waded and fished minnows. The males are trying to bed, but are scattered out in pockets of warming water. Had 2 sows shallow one was a 2 lber. Looks like the spawn will last through May and on into June this year.

Half a dozen caught today, threw back that many dinks. They're not very aggressive compared to last week. Very light bite and then they move with the minnow before taking it. Missed several by not having the hook set and thinking they were running away with it.

Of course, the big one always gets away and had er almost to the bank when I faltered on my reeling job. I felt a hesitation as I was reeling and this was the chance the big crappie needed to get off, and she did.

Never saw this fish, but the pull compared to everything else today told me this fish was in the area of a pound and a half, maybe better.

Lotsa debris on the water up close to the bank and it plays havoc on your line when the current gets to moving.

Didn't use jigs today, maybe I will have a "jig" report next time.

Fished the lower end today trying to find some fish worthy of being weighed on tourney day..tough day doin that..fished brushpiles in 8' to 20' today and never cauhgt a fish from them, used nibblets and juiced up bait additive and that didnt even work..headed up to the back end of the creeks and found cleaner water and started catching fish on the banks..18" to 3' of water..today thay wanted something orange..wouldnt look at blk/chart. or blk/pink..tried several different colors but it had to be something orange in color..talked to Larry Burchfield a guide from Morris and he had a boat full. They fished Blocker bridge area and caught a few dinks and came up into the back of the same creek we were fishing, they had a few crappie and said it was pretty tough so far..they left shortly after that with 1 more than they came into the creek with..said they were catching most in 6' to 8' of water..saw Todd also but he was traveling with a couple clients i believe and were headed for the bridge area. Out of the 16 I cleaned today 14 were males with no color until they were in the LW. their bellys were empty also, but a few showed signs of fanning..maybe the lake will clean up alil in 9 days..and with the next 9 days of 80 degree temps it should get em goin again..water temp got up to 70 degrees in the back end of the creek I was fishin..

Caught my limit yesterday evening fishing from the bank at Gaines Creek using minnows and jigs. The jigs were black and red grubs and they hit them hard. They would just barely pull on the minnows and the only way you could tell you were getting a bite was to watch the line and watch it sway.

I started at 2pm and fished til dark-30 and made it home, tired, so didn't try to clean them last night.
