I got to go yesterday evening for a couple of hours and I caught one little crappie. I know Mark is after them today. Maybe he will post something good. I know in the last year I have put out close to 75 brushpiles and it has helped on the numbers. Thanks to Mark showing me how! EB

I just hope the lake level comes back up soon. The development we are in put some trees in 5-gal buckets a few years ago between our dock walkway and the one next to us. At normal levels, only the top of a few branches are above the water. Right now, the entire trees are out of the water and soon the buckets will be on dry ground. I guess I should take the opportunity to replace the trees since these are loaded with fishing line from people getting snagged on them.

Steve, next time you are down, stroll over to the ramp next to you and take notice of the PVC pipe contraption Junior made and laid alongside his walkway. During the spawn, big females stack up around that PVC. I've caught hundreds of crappie in that one spot. An idiot in a boat this summer maneuvered his boat in between our docks and got his trolling motor caught in the PVC with me standing right there screaming at him to "STOP". He drug it about 5 feet away from its original position and it killed the bite from then on. With the current low lake level, I was able to reposition it about two weeks ago back to where it's supposed to be. Should work fine in the spring. Next time you're down, hollar at me.

Jim, I have seen that PVC contraption that Junior built. I recall seeing it out in front of his shed before he dropped it in the lake. I always wondered if it did well. Dad had tried a few PVC contraptions many years ago and never had any luck with compared to using cedar trees. But it could have been because he tried to use the PVC contraption out in the slip on the dock -- close to 20' deep there. Maybe the PVC contraption works better in the shallower water.
You've probably seen the new sign I put up at the top of our walkway. I got tired of picking up bait that inconsiderate fishermen would leave on our walkway. And then we had some kid on the walkway fishing last summer that seemed annoyed that he had to move his rods that were laying across the walkway so I could get down to my own dock. I got in touch with the Corps and they said if my walkway does not block access to the water, then I could make the entire walkway "no trespassing" - so I did.
We were down this past weekend, but never made it down to the dock. We were working up at the trailer - priming and painting the outside of our place. We won't be down next weekend, but we will be down the following weekend. I'll be splitting wood but hopefully I'll still have some time to sneak down and drown a minnow. I'll give you a shout then.

Got home late today and decided to hit the lake close to home for just a few hours well ok I fished for just over 2hrs. Double dipping wood and rap in 7'-8' of water. BF was 2.31 and kept 17 with the smallest being respectable at 1.09. Caught and released over 20 from 1lb and smaller. Blk/Chart and Pumpkin/Chart were the colors.......Ranger

Fished the docks Sunday evening around 5pm and caught my first fish since the spring spawn. Nice one pounders with an aggressive bite. Bam, bam, bam for half and hour, then they left. But I'm encouraged to see them coming back in shallow and around the docks. Barometric pressure was slightly low and the wind was out of the south.

Love hearing that great news Jim. I might have to sneak down for a bit this weekend. Hopefully some of my minnows are still alive that I bought a couple of weeks ago. Has the lake level come back up any?

Fished Big E yesterday hoping the crappie couldn't do what they did to me the day before. Day before was a blue bird day with little wind and beautiful skies after a front. Fished 5 hrs caught 5 crappie. Left scratching my head. Well I did catch a few yesterday and they had moved with the falling lake temps. Was 70 day before and 64 yesterday. 6 degrees in a single day has to be some type of record. Lol. They had been in 6' to 7' of water but moved to 10' and under the shad balls. Caught several nice fish yesterday double dipping with the baits of choice being bonehead slim sticks in Grapevine and Pumpkin/Chartreuse Double Dipping rod in hand. I expect those fish to move again with a hard freeze expected tonight....RangerAttachment 177931Attachment 177932
