Fished with Gary and Jon yesterday starting in the clear water area of Eufaula..their choice..caught 5 males all Black in the first 3 hrs with some short fish as well along with alot of trash fish such as Bass and Drum. We loaded up and headed for the South end and the creeks were busy to say the least. No one was catching fish. The best I heard of was 2 or 3 crappie caught except from the Willis's...We ended up with 27 in 4 hrs of fishing but it was tough to say the least. WT's climbed up to 66 late in the day and was a beautiful day being on the water. Had to hunt them down due to not being on the banks I had caught em on all week. All females are spawned out and in pretty bad shape skinny as a sheet of paper....Ranger
Had a great day Saturday on south end well minus that cold stinkin North wind. Ended up with 68 keepers over 12" and lot were in the 14" range, largest went 15.75. 80% females and eggs were way off from being ready.
Sunday we fished half day and bite was not as fast and ferocious but still decent. Rescued 28 keepers post 12" to release into the fryer.
Saturday they went for jigs and Sunday they preferred minnows more. Fish seemed to be relating more to structure than breaks which is different than most years this close to the spawn, but still pretty close to same staging areas.
Sweet REPORT sd_west...glad you got into em...Ranger
Well Im back on Eufaula this evening will be posting a report. I think we are going to go cork and jigging my favorite way to get'em. I've been on Lake Wister all weekend and let me tell you that the crappie there are on steroids. My elbwow is hurting again ;)
Sunday we cleaned 71, female had eggs all in 12in water on beaver tails and corks on the south side . Bout to wade north side today will update
I know you can do it Mark! By the way, Jerod was still stoked Sunday morning. I think he must have showed everyone in the congregation the pictures of the fish. Anyone who would stop long enough for him to pull out his iPhone got to hear the story and see the pics of those fish! He had a blast as did I.
Im looking at buying another boat and was trying to decide what to get and i thought i wanted a Tracker deep v Targa or Crestline Fish hawk style but, was told they catch allot of wind. Im kinda considering a bass boat but cant decide. I love to crappie fish and just sold a pontoon boat and kind of got tired of anchoring down in one spot or i should say trying to keep it in one spot. I like to Catfish to but not as much as crappie. Just trying to get some opinions?
If your a crappie purist I recommend a good bass boat! I have a Ranger and love it, it doesnt blow around in the wind. Any bass boat newer than 2000 are going to be wide so thats really a plus for room. Skeeters, Triton, Nitro, are all very good too! But if you like Mr. Whiskers that slime never comes out of your carpet ;) EB
Went out yesterday from 4:00-8:00 had 22 keepers. Caught them with a jig and cork 1ft deep. Caught alot of 9-10 inch spawning males. EB
