The reason I use split rings that are larger than necessary for crappie is that I regularly catch catfish and striped bass on them while crappie fishing as shown by the pic I posted earlier.

I went fishing yesterday. While it was a fairly calm day it was still to windy to detect bites at the depths I have been fishing. By the time I knew I had a bite opportunity had already passed. The wind is the downside of deep jigging.

I tried a little night fishing last night with very poor results. What few bits I got were at 30'. I did catch fish just not enough to be worth the effort. I have tried night fishing in Texoma several times over the years and have never had what I would call success. I have night fished at Eufaula probably 200 times always with good success before I moved here. Crappie have always been difficult here for me. I have caught many a limit here but it just seems they are harder to find than at other places. Oddly enough what few fish I caught last night were all on my spoon. I never had a bite on a jig. I was very happy that every sonar I have has a map and gps on it because when I left the water it was so foggy that neither land or lights could be seen in any direction. GPS is a good thing .

The sock hat I was wearing I had on gave me Einstein hair so I at least appeared intelligent for a few minutes . I thought it was a bit to much false advertising so I combed my hair or what's left of it before anyone saw it.

I started putting the terminal tackle on the next batch of spoons yesterday. It was too windy to fish so the spoons give me something to do. I use the lead spoons in water over 30' deep mostly and I use the flutter spoons in clear water inter 30' deep.l noticed I need to make some more flutter spoons. They are kind of a pain because I have to drill a second hole in a concave blade. I also have a rod waiting on me to build. I guess I need to bet busy but motivation is at times an issue.
