The situation on Texoma is not good. Lake is still rising and close to 12' over normal pool. Some ramps are closed, you'll have to check to see which ones. Understand that the river below the lake is full and there is concern about Shreveport flooding if more water is released from Texoma. Haven't checked my rain gauge yet this morning but, we got more rain yesterday and the forecast for the next seven days calls for thunderstorms every single day. You can go from the Texas side all the way to Tishamingo by boat now. Also concern about bridge closures. I know there are a few on the Wichita River closed and heard talk yesterday they might close the Roosevelt bridge if the water gets much higher.
I don't plan to get on the lake for awhile. With all the debris from the Red and Wa****a river, it's going to be dangerous. I've seen the Wa****a and hear the Red are both bank to bank with strong currents taking even more water into Texoma. I don't see any let up in this for a while.
Who knows what the crappie are doing. Suspect they are scattered all over the lake. I don't know of any particular depth or type structure they might be on. This is all new to me, I've never experienced anything quite like this. They are probably as confused as we all are. I do feel the spawn was pretty bad this year which will have a bad effect on the next few years. Suspect some fish spawned out but, know others did not.
