Well, the rains after Christmas hit us hard once again this year. My rain guage shows almost 70" for the year...sorry, it reset at midnight last night and I forgot to check it.
Last weekend I got almost another 8" and Texoma has been on the rise ever since. Right now it's 9' above normal and rising at a rate of one foot per day. They are not releasing any water yet for fear of flooding Shreveport!
I have heard some good reports about Lake Murray the past few days and hope to get out tomorrow and give it a try. It is full and the road that goes around the lake is closed around the damn due to hight water over the road.
But, today starts a new year and hopefully, better weather for us crappieholics!
Spent the day on Murray putting out new brushpiles last Saturday. Lake is over the spillway and the road around the road is closed at the spillway on both ends. In other words, you can't drive all the way around the lake from either end.
Texoma is just over 10' above normal pool and they are only letting out 19 cfps for some reason...probably due to potential flooding downstream if they let more out. Going to make Texoma fishing tough at this level. Good news is the inflow has diminished to almost nothing now.

Not much to report, have not been out since last rain which took the lake to 10' above normal pool. Currently still over 4' above normal. Hope to get out this week and will report if I do.

The lake is back down to a reasonable level. The north end is very muddy. I fished docks for short periods of time the past two days. Did not get a tap using jigs. I was going to resort to minnows, but nobody in Madill or Kingston had any to sell. We ended up putting more brush in the boat slips. Hopefully, it will pay off in time.
Texoma is slightly below normal now, about 1/4' to be exact. Wend is bad this morning. Putting more brush out is always good and will pay off in time. Sorry, I've had a full plate this past 6 weeks or so and have a funeral to attend and will be tied up all this week as well. And, I thought retirement was a time to fish whenever I wanted???? What's up with that?? Haven't held a pole in a month!

I went out on Feb 6th. Beautiful day but no fish. I tried the boathouse (Newberry Creek) and all over the cove. Marked a lot of bait fish but not one hit from anything. Water is still murky and around 50 degrees.

Not sure what the temp was in the boathouse. I saw 50 up in the creek and searched pretty hard but not a bump.
