Long day. Up at 3 am. went down at 11 pm. Worth it. The fishing started slow, strong north wind limiting what could be fished. Started the day dead sticking jigs and using minnows on slip bobbers in brush. Fish didnt really want to hit jigs, so finally switched my jigs out for a minnow rig on my meat draggas. I was tired of fishing slips and I wanted to feel the thump. Turned out to be extremely effective. I was working those minnows through the brush and then later in the day through the stump roots. I used a 1/4 ounce bell sinker 9 inches below a single hook tied on with a loop knot. The piles didn't hold many big fish and they weren't hitting jigs well but you could catch a bunch of small and medium sized fish using minnows. When the wind dropped out at 6 pm or so was able to hit the channel edge stumps and killed the the bigger fish. Exact opposite of the brush. Instead of 15 to 1 small to big ratio, it was one big one after another with only a few small fish. Never went back to jigs, they were really light in the bite and I was doing so well with the minnows. Didnt keep so I dont know how many, but it was lots!
