My bad, Cc. As a technical writer, I failed to make the point clear. I'll give you a hint. The saugeye stuck out his tongue as he sank beneath the waves. The fisherman went "DAD GUM!!!", or something like that.
And thanks for the tip. There is a newer shad hatch at Hefner, so I may have to "jig" for some small shad and entice some saugeyes to take that hot oleic bath.

Sorry this report is so late. The older I get the longer it takes to recover from being up all night! Fished CB Friday from about 4am til 3pm. Bite was much slower than I had seen previously. I managed to keep 26, but had to work for them. Depth seemed to vary - some about 13 and some 16 to 18 foot. Blk/pink, pink/chart, orange/chart seemed to be best colors for me. Had the priviledge of meeting and fishing beside Swollen Crappie and Page for part of the day. Both GREAT guys and fishermen! Would be glad to fish elbow to elbow with them any day - very courteous. Wasn't as crowded as I've seen in the past. As I was cleaning fish on my tailgate, I could hear someone talking about taking a picture in front of the "Lake Record" sign at the store - I hear a boat fisherman caught a new lake record saugeye, it weighed six something. He deserved it for fighting the wind that day!

I'm still kickin'. Anxiously awaiting re-opening of AH. Talked to Warden Walker around 1st of year, he thought it might get open by May. Have you heard any update? Won't be long before Pawhuska will be hot too.

The rain has continued to miss AH. I would not count on a May opening unless we have a monsoon camp over the lake for a couple days. I have access to a 2.5 acre lake that compares to AH in quantity and size.

Fished Blackwell last night. Kept 16. Super slow. Caught them doddle socking from the bank. Missed two saugeyes. One at 16ft deep and one doodle socking.

Got to CB for the first time in awhile. Slammed the small males that were in less than a foot of water. Zero females and no big males. Minnow guys were getting cats and hybrids and very few crappie.

BigSky, you did better then I did. I fished this morning along the dam and caught a ton of 13" to 15" Sand Bass, but could not get a crappie. I tried several spots and nothing. Even had to turn to Ranger09 on advice. Fished blackwell a few nights ago and done real well after 9. Going to try again tomorrow, maybe I can find the crappie and not the Sandies. Were you at fish house or in a boat?

Swollen, I was fishing my small hair jigs about 9 inches under a very small bobber from the bank at the head of a small cove. Other guys were catching some small males pulling plastic under bobbers. They were using a very fast retrieve, while I was retrieving very slowly and letting the wind provide the action.
