Darryl they are done planting. They will hold the lake steady for 30 days or so until the millet gets a good start. It's a tad early to rig the stumps. September 10th or so when the water temp starts dropping back into the 70's it's as good as it gets. The crappie will start feeding up for the winter and it's unreal. That does look really good over there. Lot's of cover. It will be good. The fish are holding on brush just out of the coves along the ledges anywhere there is brush. I did catch some smaller fish in 3 fow but no size. As the water clears, it will get better every day.

Dstreet- no, they were jugging. They released 3 over 30"s today because they had their 1 each already. I am wanting to get a break in my hectic work schedule and come up and do some drifting myself. Dennis and I both want to get out on the lake. Leasure time is non existent for me.

George I figured they were jugging. Talked to 2 guides on the water Tuesday and they are struggling right now on rod and reel.

Wife wanted to get out on the lake today with the cooler weather.
You sure don't want to head up the river arm above Sarge creek. Trash and driftwood everywhere. Mulvane Ks, upstream, got torrential rains and flooded.
We cruised the lake looking at the sandbass hotspots, and found very few fish after two summers of massive flooding and discharges.
Nothing like the big schools of past. Trolled a bit and caught two nice sandies. Around Washunga, big chunks of moss floating like it's trying to turn over in that area.

With the lake up and down, crappie fishing is tough but the catfishing is as good as it gets. More heavy rain in Kansas last night so don't look like it's gonna improve anytime soon. If you like catching blues, doesn't get any better.

Fellas it's hard to believe how many fish that are being taken out of the lake. There is more fishermen now on Kaw than ever before. It's nothing to see 1 to 300 jug lines out on any given weekend. That's why I stay off the water. All the local fishermen have noticed a drastic decline in the numbers of catfish over 25 lbs in the last 5 to 10 years. Folks are coming in with chest type freezers and filling them up before they leave. Please take what you need and release the bigger fish. A picture last's longer anyway. We take a picture and release 95 percent of our fish. There is plenty of 5 to 10 lb fish and they are easier to clean anyway.

I agree 100%. The pressure put on those blues is tremendous. I don't understand how its sustained the bluecat population this long.
Running on plane at night going out or coming back in is especially dangerous dodging floats.
I've seen folks in the campgrounds bring small chest freezers, stay for a week filling it, then leave. Sure wish the GW's would do a count on some of those freezers.
I haven't ran jugs in well over a year because I had plenty in the freezer. It's all gone now, so a few days of jugging will probably happen soon.
