First post. Caught 18 crappie last night in like 2-3 fow on minnows and curly tail grubs from the bank. Mostly males with a few slab females in there. The carp are definitely thick in coves

Get a 8 weight fly rod and tear em up, poor mans bone fish baby! I met a couple of guys on a fly fishing trip to the North Platte river in Wyoming that own the grey reef fly shop and guide service in Alcova. They took me out with them onto Pathfinder reservoir to sight fish for carp, it was a blast. They have one of the best rivers in the world to fly fish for trout, and on their day off, they fish carp. They had their boat all rigged up as a flats boat with a sight/casting platform and everything. I broke my beautiful 4 weight Winston wt rod on a big bone fish, oops, I mean carp. They got some mean in em.

You did better than we did Paul. We couldn't catch fish deep or shallow. Found brush piles that you couldn't see on the graph because so many crappie was on em. Slowest day in a long time.
I poured a special batch of jigs up for dstreet. PS. Don't ever use red Gamakatsu sickle hooks. Ever
Crapalious--why no red gamakatsu hooks? Just wonderin......
WW . You need to clean the peanut butter and jelly off your I pad screen so you can see the broken hook in C As picture! (-;
The red Gamakatsu sickle hooks break.
Oh I see said the blind man. That darn pb&j gets all over everything. Thanks CC for that reminder!![]()

I use red G sickle hooks all the time. Once in a while I get a batch that is brittle and they will break. Just return them.

I never thought about the fly rod. That would be totally fun! Wonder what would be the best bait? A piece of corn? I've got a 6wt TFO that has a life time guarantee. Might be worth a shot if they are still around when beginners weekend is over. You won't catch me on any lake until next week.
