Fished Kaw yesterday and Kerr on Monday. On Kaw I trailered to two different spots twice due to wind and ice. I tried the bridge on Ferguson first, caught some fish 30 FOW suspended at 20-25 but it was too windy to hold still enough. Drove to Beaver creek it had 4 inches of ice, turned around and went down to Sarge creek. Ended up fishing deep edges and ledges out of the wind the last 2 hours of the day. Any structure or wood at 30 FOW held fish suspended 20-25 feet deep. Caught four nice fish and probably that many small ones. Kerr: It was CROWDED! I was shocked at the number of people out fishing in the middle of winter on a weekday. I dont want to contribute to an over fished spot so I will refrain from naming the area (those of you who fish it probably know exactly where I am talking about). Caught lots of fish 8"-10", one 13". You could tell that it was do to pressure, there were fish everywhere once you found the depth, I did not see anyone or talk to anyone who was NOT catching fish, just bunches of small fish. I caught a good crappie fishing show on lake Dardanelle in Arkansas downstream, figured I should give Kerr a shot, its the same water just 50 miles away. I am going to have to put some time on this lake and find some areas that are not pounded. I bet it produces some good numbers of bigger fish away from the super crowded areas. All the fish were very fat and healthy. Jigs on both lakes were BG and Yum wooly B. Kerr preferred yum in Black and Chart green. Kaw BG baby shad in purple.
