Any updates on Gibson? Looking to get out this weekend!!!
Not much help here but i Ran out there yesterday eve. Wind was blowing about 7,000 mph the only place I could find out of the wind was ranger creek and I really don't care for fishing in there only ended up with 8 keepers fished from bout 5:30-8:00 fish came from
8-15. Fow.
I had a buddy that claims they had a two man limit off the banks if that helps any
Thought I was going to have a chance to go. Maybe next weekend. I heard they we're deeper last night. Not good for the bank bite!
Ran out there bout 6:00 yesterday after work , fished in 14 mile they were pulling water so hard there was current comin down the creek. I caught several males that were jet black that looked like they had been on the bank that were out in 12 fow ,,the lake is already low I have no idea why they are pulling it that hard,,,,and that is why Gibson sucks in the spring
They were doing the same thing to Lake Texoma drawing the water way down and they finally stopped about a month ago. According to the locals and the guides apparently our governor had made a deal that no one was aware of with Texas for the water, once the word got out apparently they stopped. Wonder if this could also be related.
Went out to Gibson Sunday evening after my chores was done bout 5:30 , they finally quit pullin water so figured would give her a shot. Drove around lookin for fish on my sidescan finally found some scattered out off of a big shallow point in about 10-12 ft sittin on absolutely nothing I guess they were out there chasin the shad that we're being blown into that point Ended up with 11 good keepers and threw back several females that hadn't spawned out yet biggest fish was a black female that was almost 17" Don't know what it weighed I have never owned a scale ,, caught 3 later in the evenin in about 3' fow but couldn't find anymore than that. Had probly 15-20 throwbacks. Caught all fish on a RR with a blk/chart Jig
thanks fishers,, that one was on of the fish that hadn't spawned out yet so she went back in the drink,,i try to throw most of the females back in gibson if i do accidently catch fish over there in the spring cause they have a rough enough time trying to spawn over there already,
i would have liked to have kept em and finished out my limit but hopefully every little bit helps...
(( atleast that what i keep telling myself))
Thanks and see ya out there
Thanks for doing your part to bring Gibson back to its glory days. Back in the 80's I hardly ever left there with fewer than 37 fish- the legal limit at the time. Maybe I was part of the problem.
