! Dad being the ole trash fisher that he is, had a hard time feeling the bump. Me being my first time to use that technique took me a bit. But persistence paid off and glad to say that although it was a school day for me, I did actually do a better job of paying attention in class than I did as a youngster!

Fished Killer again today with clients Kenneth and Ed Mullinax from Arkansas. Love that clear water and being back into my element of cast n draggin wood. Did I say it was a windy day yet..ok It Was A Very Windy Day..we got on the water at 9am and closed the LW's at 1 with a 3 man limit of 45. Fish have moved off the spawning piles and out into deeper water wood. Today they were in 18' to 25' right on the breaks. They were not hitting the bait just getting hold of it and sometimes swimming off with it. You had to pay very close attention to your Hi Vis Line to be successful on this day. Slab Bandits were the bait of choice and they just wouldnt hit any color either cause we tried many different ones. Sure glad I was fishing from a Ranger in winds like today and had a strong Minn Kota Trolling Motor as well....RangerName: tenkiller 4-28-14 004.jpg

Dad was having some difficulty until I laid my rod down and give Monte some one on one tender loving instruction including when to jerk (his first fish by the way). After he duplicated that technique over and over again he was all over it..Enjoyed the day and time spent with such great guys.....Ranger

Ranger (Mark) when you say "Today they were in 18' to 25' right on the breaks" are you talking about the drop into a creek or river channel?

Yes holding tight to the breaks. If a pile was on top of the break you wouldn't get bit in the 14' of water but work the 20' water on the outside on the break and you would. I already had a hunch they would be pulled off and staging for this strong LP to pass us by.......Ranger

Howling is the correct word for the wind. Just glad I was fishing in a RANGER and had good batteries and a MINN KOTA.....Ranger

Just thought the wind was bad yesterday. Man I am beat to death today. Glad I fish from a Ranger....crappie have moved from the shallow wood to deep wood. Suspended along the deep side of the channel breaks. With 30+mph winds it's certainly hard to target suspended fish. We ended up with 29 keepers today with a big fish at 1.87lb. Vertical over the channel and wood seemed to be the best tactic today. Had to watch your line and only 2 times did I feel the thump today. So if you just thought you saw a twitch jerk cause it doesn't cost anything to jerk. No pictures cause I couldn't get my clients out of th truck with the heater running when it was picture time........Ranger
