I hope you fill the live well!
Patiently awaiting that report from either Allen or Kirk on their maiden voyage today.......Ranger
Need some lessons Ranger! Fished Friday evening, on good fish caught 1 crappie!! Allen and I went this morning, pulled up to the first place showed Allen the fish on the finder. Dropped down bam 1.5# er, not another bite. Visited 5 or six places brought back 5 fish. Deadman fishin, 1 biter to the place maybe. Water 86 degrees, water clear, perfect day and great company!! Tried vertical Jiggin and cast n drag. Tried at least 12 different colors/ sizes. Gasp even tried minnows, didn't catch a crappie on minnows either. The more I learn the less I know! Allen thanks for going, let's do it again, when I figure out how to catch them!!
According to my fishing log we were catching 60-80 fish each trip last year on these dates. I guess this year isn't last year!
Redge is right. They were stacked like Sardines but just wouldn't be convinced they were hungry. Balls of shad as thick as cumulus clouds were everywhere! Thanks for the ride Redge and lesson and again the helping hand.
You gotta try live shad when that happens. Its like fly fishing for trout, they get super selective when there is a abundance of a single food source.
Sorry to hear they had lock jaw, just like when we went out. Better luck next time!
Frank your honey hole was holding fish also, looked really really good!
Fishers, I'll try them live shad next weekend! I am open to anything, well except small explosives and electricity! LOL I have noticed the last 2 weekends that the crowds have really thinned out. Guess with kids going back to school, lot fewer water fleas and yahoos.
Thanks, Redge. I fully expect your to limit off of it one day!
Redge I feel your pain Woodworker42 and I made the long 120 mile round trip twice to fish the north 69 and later the triangle bridges areas to catch only 3 keeper crappie each trip. I hate to have to step up and post a bad trip report after reading EB and Ranger reports. Do they ever feel our pain?
