Fished today with dad out of his boat. Finally found some active fish bout the time the wind started picking up. Put 7 in boat in just a few mins, when his trolling motor gave out on us and we couldn't hold the spot. Appears that his onboard charger had went out and batteries went dead after he had fished a couple days ago. Bite was still between 28-30 ft.

Took my cousin out this morning, 2 nice fish on the first 2 casts!! WT 43, fish were biting good. We got cold and left before we got our limit, but had a great time. Saw a bald eagle!

Love fishing the trees in winter. Early bite was off with slick water. HDS was showing 0 fish in or around the trees. Had 5 crappie at Noon. I contributed that to a 10 to 15 mph East Wind. As soon as the wind switched out of the South the bite picked up around 2pm. At 4 was cleaning my days catch of 15, but practiced catch and release for over an hour. Ended the day with 28 keeper crappie caught with the biggest being 1.82 lb. Fishing in 50' to 65' DOW and 30' to 35' deep. Was a good day on the water.....Ranger

I would post some pictures of the HDS but can't seem to find a link to do so on this crazy phone. Litterly 100's in schools around the trees down south. Have pictures on Facebook if you want to see them......Ranger

Great photos! What weight of jig head were you using?
-
Frank was using a 3/16 and 1/4oz Crappie Pro Head. Using the BoneHead Stick Guards on. 2/0 hook. Worked great. When fishing 30' and deeper I use a bigger head so it gets in the strike zone faster......Ranger
