Well we unloaded at Elk Creek ramp yesterday morning at 6am since my client had to leave the water early for a previous engagement and fished a few piles towards the 82 hwy bridge and didn't get a strike. We fished our way down the lake to Snake Creek and the then across the lake as well. We had some really nice crappie and a smally about 2 1/2 to 3lbs as well for a highlight of the day. All the fish I cleaned that were white species crappie still had eggs and 2 of them were spewing eggs too. All the black species crappie were spawned out and were gourging themselves with 3" shad. Baits of choice today were the red/chart super tube and Bobby Garlands in blue thunder and silver metal flake worked as well. Method of fishing today were cast and drag wood and finessing the wood as well. I had forgot why I stop fishing Tenkiller during the summer months until we were hit by those big ole waves from the huge boats. I will only guide Tenkiller seasonally due to this fact. Since Tenkiller is really a narrow lake and with all the weekend traffic plus the campers and all enjoying the water sports not to mention the waverunners its hard to fish anything out on the lake where the fish are. But what a beautiful day to be on the water.
