Sorry about your bad luck, bdavis. I caught a few up the little river with minnows 3-5' under a bobber around overhanging willow trees and submerged timber. I could have cleaned up pretty well if I'd brought more minnows but I wasn't expecting to find them in such shallow water. I was also followed by a very curious great horned owl so if you get up there around dusk keep an eye out and you'll probably spot him.
Wal Mart on 12the and Main in Norman has a clearance box with some good stuff including $.50 for a 4 pack of roadrunners.
i found a new facebook group called Oklahoma Fishing Fools and there have been numerous posts about the crappie biting good on the covered docks fishing the brush/pvc structures as well as on brush piles marked with bouys. Curious if anyone here has had the same luck?
Just curious, I went out and fished/piddled with the boat at the marina this morning during the rain. I stopped at Denver corner to get minnows and visited for a minute with a guy going to the new fishing dock at the end of Alameda. This was right at 6am when DC opened. Just wondering if it was anyone on here.
Talked to a guy at Cabela's the other day and thats where he said they had been catchin better fish.. I Found some off of points but couldnt get a color on them that they liked.. I pulled up on a guy doing the same thing I was spider rigging points and watched him get a couple, but I struck out... Couldn't get anything to hit under twin bridges either other than a couple of dinks...
Hit the bird today in my boat. Haven't done that since January. Was out there 4 hours but an hour or so of that was tinkering with the new Helix 7 SI. Mainly fished the standing timber in Willow Branch cove. Caught 6 as well as 2 large mouth. 3rd fished surprised me. It took the jig and swam with it like it was a sandbass. To my surprise it was a 1.32 lb 13" crappie. Can't remember the last time I caught one of that size at the bird. All fish were caught on tomato seed / chartreuse. That is my go to color at the bird.
