Ohio river at Hogans Creek has gave up alot of 1 to 2lb fish all year. I live 30 minutes away and spend most my fishing time there. Great size with trophy chance even in summer.

    Default Indian

Indian can be a good lake, but I have had some bad days up there, where I didn't catch but just a few fish. If your not used to fishing a shallow lake I would recommend you staying home. Mid April is good for Blacks they are usually spawning by then, the whites don't move in till May.

Yes, that fish in the pic is 2 lb easy. We seem to get a few really good fish every year at Ky lake. I wish it we a little close to Cincy.

The fish I lost, that I was refering to was at East Fork. I didn't get out fishing much last fall (too much time in the tree stand) but when I did go, we caught some nice fish at EF.
I'm going to try to spend a little more time in my boat next fall or early winter. I was really looking forward to some winter fishing when everything froze up.

I love Kentucky Lake. A big group of guys including my dad and I have been making a trip to a good crappie lake every year for a while. They are going on 25 years, and I'm at about 12 myself. We stayed on Barkley for about 8 years and I would always go over to Kentucky at least a couple of the four or five day trip. Always did well with saverage size there. We did catch some hogs on Barkley though. We had two straight years where the lake levels were way down when we got there and now I can't get those guys to go back. We've been going to Weiss for the past 3 years, and the fishing there is usually awesome too. Going back in late March.
A friend of mine lives in Indiana close to Monroe. That's a super nice crappie lake too. Patoka can also be good, but plenty of small fish there too.
Crappiemax, that's a nice slab, anywhere. Those 2 pounders are in EF. My dad caught two on the smae day in late November. Mike at the Boars Head was telling me there was a 2.62 weighed there caught from the bank in December. You just don't see 'em a lot.

Yes, Weiss is good but I haven't been in a few years though. I used to go there at the end of Feb. or 1st of March for 4/5 days. Then, in April take another trip to Ky Lake for a week. Weiss was kind of hit or miss, some really great trips... then some really bad trips. The weather was the deciding factor in all cases. But, ya' can't change the weather just go out and fish.
Myself and another friend used to set up the trips and he got layed-off last year. He did get a new job but is starting all over again for vacation. He's is limited and can only make Ky lake for a few days this year. I may head down early and spend a week anyway.

We camp at Hillman Ferry and we spend most of our time on the LBL side of Ky Lake. I like the clearer water over there. I like the variety of fish at that lake. It's a hoot. Here's a pic of a redear I caught. Laying from the bend in my elbow, it went mid way to the palm of my hand. We've got a few spots that I think you could sink the boat with catfish if the crappie fishing is slow. What a great fishery.

We've been going on a trip somewhere since 1993. It used to be Lake Erie but I feel like I've been beat up after a trip up there. If the lake is calm fishing is slow. Wind pics up, lake gets pretty rough. I like the inland lakes better.
