These were caught out of the meldahl pool also! Hey by chance have you ever fished a creek on the ky side called lee's creek? Our gps called it lee's creek. It has a huge slew just a few hundred yards up in it. We were just trying to locate shad for bait when we saw the slew. If it has any depth I would say it looks to be a promising spot for slabbin. by chance do any of you fellas catch crappie when the water is the stained, it is almost like chocolate milk? We just figured it wouldnt work to well beings they feed mainly by sight??? Atleast i think they do.

I grew up fishing Lee's creek and it is one of my favorites at times. What you are calling a slew is what we refer to as the backwater. It is super shallow now and not really fishable most of the time. Believe me, 30 years ago it averaged 3 to 4 ft deep and you could literally circle round and round in there until you had a limit. If you bear to your left going up thru the slew and on up into the creek there are some good spots for crappie. Be very careful as it is only a 1 to 1 and a half ft. deep and there are plenty of stumps going up thru there. At times you can really slay them. I hope this helps but remember very shallow. No luck for me in muddy water. Man, I wannna go fishing.
