I swore after my Cancer that I would live life to the fullest. There are not many idiots driving a 1K horsepower car as their fishing vehicle or as a daily driver....I'm having a blast and enjoying life...who knows when it ends. NO REGRETS!

PS WHEN IS THE FISH FRY?
Thats one thing i noticed, people are nice down there. This is the second winter my wife and i camped and crappie fished Florida. Its cheap too 30-45$ a day with a boat slip, plus 2lb. Crappie put a big smile on my face. If I moved there it would be in the panhandle, summers are awfull in Florida.

Gators are still on fire...2 week dead period should start, then Crappie bite should kick in.
Get used to seeing people with 2 to 5 buckets or baskets of dink Crappie leaving from the Marina or easy access areas. I stoll can't believe this is gonna happen???

Brent can you please post a picture of exactly how you rig the Keitecks ? would appreciate it...
Here you go Lowell...I like a hyper swivel and snap, some guys tie a loop around jighead so it can move. The Lazer hyper swivel are size 12 and rated at 20lbs. I use them to change jig head colors or sizes faster.
The Keitech tail is always down...I mainly use niblets for Crappie, since they will sometimes be smarter and check out scent.
This year has been pink front half and orange rear half more than pink front half Chartreuse rear half. Other combos haven't done as well for me...water has been darker than normal with all the inflow.
Thank You Brent ! hope you are doing well !
Good morning fellas! It’s been a long time! I’m glad I found everyone over here. I was starting to read through the 8000+ posts on OGF “CJ water temps” but gave up. A little update on me. I got happily divorced (again), finished my bachelors degree in nursing, built a new home just outside Mechanicsburg, and now finally at a point where I can enjoy life and fishing. I’ve been out to Clark and CJ a few times but only caught a few gills from the marina. Getting my boat ready this coming week! Are you guys planning a CJ clean up day like we did a few years back? I’d be willing to help out. Best of luck to everyone.

Hey Jason...Congrats on your fishing freedom!
CJ is a mess...no more size or creel limits on crappie, The COE is out of control dumping water, and Springfield's Finest uses it for a dump after they are done fishing.
I just fish in isolated areas away from people...I'm really hate being around The Finest and their Spawn!
Walleye had slowed last week, but should be back on soon. Crsppie are just barely starting to bite. Next weekend may be good!
Finally back! Been some time but my wife and I finally got our first home and we both have transitioned into new jobs! So I can get back to some fishing again. Can amyone tell me why exactly they dismissed the limits?
They said the Crappie are stunted?
I just laughed...the Crappie have never been larger in that lake...but you have to get away from the shallow coves or the Marina.
The large Crappie are with the schools of shad living a Pelagic life, but also moving into deep water under the schools.
Most of the Large Crappie are feeding at night during the warm season so you will never see many anyway.
We had several limits the past 2 years where all 30 of the Crappie were over 12 inches. I got into 1 mess where I had a couple 16's, a few 15's and several 13's and 14's...it was just after dusk on a feeding flat, near deep water.
Now with the "Finest" allowed to remove small Crappie by the ton, we won't have to worry about convenient places to fish because they will be stripped of life!
People who know how to fish CJ will be fine!
I ended the Walleye season with 92...now on to Big Crappie!
My new job is 3rd shift and I got a couple kayaks now so hopefully I can hit those hard to reach spots close to sun up! Really looking forward to some early morning fishing

EAT MORE GOOSE BECAUSE THEY ARE DUMB WELCOME BACK
CJPOLECAT
Thank you pole cat! Anyone know where I can do some shopping for keitechs that is not an internet browser. Bait stores or sporting goods store?
No stores carry the full line, most only carry the large sizes for Bass.
Mike at Keitechusa.com has safe online ordering...He is the ONLY Distributor in N. AMERICA. Everyone else (all stores) and including me get them from him.
If you are unable to order, tell me what you want, and we can work it out!
What would you suggest. Been a couple years and I dont know any of the new stuff. Just looking forward to getting back into fishing again!
Tomorrow’s weather looks great! I’m taking this little guy out for a while. This was is first EVER fish! Man he was excited! Attachment 337916

To get started and save money right now, I would get some 3" Easy Shiners...there is a White called Sight Flash, and a Chartreuse and Pearl...those will get you through the spawn.
They have a couple Natural colors called Gizzard Shad and Alewife which will be good for summer in clearer water and blue skies.
This is my view this morning, fishing slow as wind n rain have been an issue. See everyone soon. Downtime Attachment 337959

I can hardly wait and as you can tell, it don't take much to enterain me anymore. I had a lady hold the door for me at the grocery the other day. Old age ain't too bad. Hope everyone is enjoying life as much as me ..Have a good one see ya at CJ..

Well then Happy Birthday Fritz your half way to Old. I figured years ago after seeing my birth certificate and realizing it didn’t have an expiration date one must live with a smile as much as possible. But realize you must act and be one way as He who originally issued it controls the stamp that ends it as well !

For just being stocked, that's a pretty big musky, how fast do the devils grow.
CJP
Since when are there musky out there? That's exciting!
Happy Day Of Birth Fritz...you don't look a day over 21, but remember I'm blind! I enjoy your posts with a hearty snicker...Blessings to you my friend!
The Muskie were stocked last year...they have insatiable appetites, and they grow fast.
How many did they stock? Also will it be reoccurring like they did for walleye or just a 1 time thing?
Yesterday I got to the boat ramp just as they were releasing 1 million walleye into the lake. Water temp was 51. The guy said the Muskie were released last September and were about 12”. He mentioned they probably didn’t grow much over winter. He wasn’t sure if it would be an annual thing or not.

The Muskie have grow considerably since release.
Several pics on the CJ Facebook page with Crocs that are 15 inches, and 1 that measured almost 20 inches.
Hopefully the COE lets the lake fill before dumping water and lowering the lake 3 feet again.
Glad we put that plastic in the right places for all those Walleye fry....but not many of those will survive.
Did he say how many fingerlings CJ got?
1 million. Each bag had about 55,000Attachment 339711

The Crappie bite is on...yes my Dogwood is blooming!
The bite is at the end of the day...
Several of my buds have been hitting the lake in various areas in the morning hourscwith little luck. Two days this week, I also hit the lake around 11am to 2pm, I could pick up maybe 6 keeper Crappie.
But both days, I went back out around 7pm and limited...yes, I no there is no limit but I stopped keeping at 30. All were 10 to 12 inches.
They are deep on the drops, but are coming up to feed aggressively before dusk. On sunny days Natural Shad colors are working and on Cloudy days Chartreuse/Pearl and White/Pink are best right now...for me!
They have been getting extra Walleye eggs from PA...mainly for letting PA collect from the Ohio side of Pymatuning.
Since the ponds at the Ohio fisheries can only hold so many fingerlings, they have been holding and releasing more fry. Fingerlings develop a taste for each other when they are captive and cannot get enough food to satisfy their appetite. Fry are not cannibalistic.
Fry rarely survive to adulthood, maybe 1% is guessed...fingerlings have maybe a 3% survival rate.
They have been stocking both...with huge numbers of fry!
HEY folks,
I found them all , Now can't eat too many, got to save room for goose. If anyone needs freezer space, i've got plenty'''
EAT MOORE GOOSE..

Went out with my ol' Buddy Pat yesterday...the COE was dumping water like they were expecting the 40 day and night floods.
Got there at 4pm and it was a serious struggle...very few little bites and no hookups! Until the Sun went behind the clouds for a few minutes, then things turned on. When the sun came back out, NOTHING!
The water was full of sediment and dark, we hit every bright color and dark color....Nothing!
We switched locations, nothing!
I told Pat the way they bit when the sun went in, that I thought at dusk they would turn on...so we stayed until dark! when the sun went behind the trees the outside of the Marina turned on...we were fishing the Black with Blue flake and almost every single cast we both caught nice fish from 11 to 14 inches.
After fishing for 5 hours with almost nothing to speak of, we both limited in alittle over a half hour!
Patterns are messed up....the Dogwoods are flowered, the shad nor WB have spawned, and the Crappie won't bite while the sun is out??? This is why fishing is still fun!
