Will be on CJ in the morning so if you see a white Taho ski/fish it's me looking for fish !!
May all the fish tales you catch be longer than the ones you tell !

    Hey Paul
No matter what, please post up the water temps...I haven't been out since the last Winter blast, so I'm curious how far it dropped!

Went out from 9am till 1:15 water was 58-60deg and water was stained to a little muddy towards the north end. Six fish caught and lost two, one cat and the rest crappie. At time the lake was nice the the wind would start up and the white caps commenced and the trilling motor lost to say the least. Brent ,love the Kietech as they caught the majority again !!!! Red/orange was the choice according to the fish, even the cat !

I just finally got a few things planted yesterday. I figured if they hate the cold as much as I do they wouldn't do anything anyway.
Finally some sun and warmer temps.

Short Version for Blue/Green Algae.....The Algae dies in the Fall and is flushed out, the lake is oxygenated....CJ is re-fertilized in the Spring with rains and the filling to Summer pool, as soon as it gets hot, the Algae grows and blooms...the Smell, and fish are killed due to the algae using up all the oxygen as it grows and then dies!
Short Version for Ecoli....With Heavy rains in Spring and Summer, the storm sewers, septic tanks, and run-off of POOP Factories, fill CJ with raw sewage.... and then add heat and the Ecoli bacteria in the POO POO BLOOMS!
CJ is now in a bad cycle like all the other Ohio lakes.
No one really knows for sure, if any of the toxic sludge will stay in the meat of fish...I tend to believe that it all never goes away!

Hit C.J. at 6:30 this morning. Air temp in the upper 40s - water temp 60° at the ramp. By the time I left at 10:30 it was up to 62.5°. I also have an auxiliary temp probe that goes down 15 feet and it was showing 60° pretty much everywhere I dropped it. I managed two bluegills, one snagged shad, a keeper Walleye and an "eater" catfish on jig and worm. All went back to swim again. One other "experienced" boat had one nice Walleye. Baitfish are up on the humps and there's a feeling that the predicted warm up this week will light things up by the weekend. I'll be out again Friday or Saturday to find out!
