Hey Lowell ; Thanks for asking. Doing OK for an old man, I'm just setting back reading the mail, and taking notes. .Don't get out much anymore because of the heat. Having trouble with balance.. anytime my a-- gets ahead of my feet
I fall. I fell out the back end of my utllity trailer and I'm still trying to recover from that.. Finally sold "litlle Suzy " Even though I couldn't operate her, I still miss her hope nobody fishing my honey hole We still visit every now and then, waiting for our ship to come in, Thanks again for thinking abut me. good fishing all ....CJP
Had my first trip to CJ for quite awhile last night. I decided to try some of my night fishing tactics that I've been having good success with at CC. Two home made green submersible LED lights and a green strip light on the side of my boat.
I arrived at dusk and marked a good number of suspended fish in the deep water marina area and what appeared to be some coming up from bottom.
That soon changed to a scattered band of noise around 15-20ft. Later, the band stayed but a thin band developed near the surface. The green LEDs weren't really attracting the shad like at CC.
I later discovered what the band near the surface was. I pulled anchor to move and when my boat hit between 3.5 to 4.5 mph a GAZZILLION shad broke the surface. I was able to net a few to get a look at them. They were mostly about 3". It was kind of odd that slower or faster speeds didn't generate the same activity. The wash/wake from my bow was apparently just right at that speed. I'm pretty sure that the shad covered nearly all of the southern end of the lake, but seemed to thin out significantly at shallower depths (less than 14ft)
I only ended up catching dinks. From memory, the water temp upon arrival was around 78 and around 74 when I left.
Dale and I went out last night from 6pm till dark...did Great!
Had 20 over 12 inches and a bunch more from 10 to 11 inches...no real dinks.
Had to drop down to a 2 inch Keitech swing impact and niblet.
ALL in deep water.
Fritz, sorry about the long response time, was in the hospital with a serious leg infection. hope to get back to work and then do some fishing soon. would love to get with you and the "Friends" if we could arrange it. miss you and hope you are doing okay !
Sorry to hear that, hope all is well or getting better. I'm to the point of hating Dr's, they are worse than a bunch of lawyers. If ya need anything, holler..

Dale and I headed back out on Sunday....same evening timeframe!
Found all kinds of fish pushing huge schools of small shad shallow...surface action everywhere.
We hit one area and only caught Bull 'Gills....Dale had one that almost hit 11 inches, all were hand sized and larger...those are 2.5 inch swimmers in their mouths. They tore off the tails of probably 20 Keitechs...that's how hard they were hitting!
Moved to another area close by and caught 12 Walleye between 11 and 14 inches....sorry, no keepers, just fun.
Moved again and got into Big Crappie, caught 30 keepers and no dinks...biggest was 14!
Also got a BIG Bass again.
Dale and I watched a LARGE Gator go airborne about 2 feet off the bank in-between us...that Monster was huge, it was going after tiny shad too! Then watched a Large Bass go airborne a few minutes later, from the same spot.
Everything was hitting the 2.5 French Pearl with a Chartreuse nibblet!
Did you happen to check the water temp? I was at Caesar Creek last night and it was 71 there. No big schools of shad where I was.
you caught all them fish in 2 hrs
