    Default Mosquito Creek lake report

Fished this lake on Thursday 5/21/15 with my disabled neighbor. He doesn't get a chance to get out much so I offered to help him put some fillets in his freezer for a holiday fish fry. The bite started out on fire but slowed as the morning sun got higher in the sky. We scratched out two 30 fish limits of good size crappies and a handful of bluegills to go with them. Found the fish in shallower water starting out but had to move deeper as the morning went on. 8ft was best followed by 11ft around the stumpfields. Got all the fish on BG baby shads and strike king shadpoles. Mixed bag of black and whites were caught. the blacks were still shallow, the whites deeper. Longline trolled for them. Good time on the water and some nice fillets too.

I'm still fishing the same general area and the fish are still there. Picked up 25 keepers in 4 hours on Sunday.

just an update report. Fished the northend this morning until the threat of an ugly looking storm cut my day short. The crappie bite was tough but still good. Kept 20 and 5 big bluegills. Drifted in 7 to 12ft water using BG baby shads tightline. The bouy line area was packed with trollers.

I'm still getting them relatively shallow. 9 to 11ft drifting stumpfields. BG baby shads produced all these this weekend.

After a couple less productive trips last week, I finally found some willing to bite. Hang glided over brush and stumps in water from 7 to 11ft and me and my buddy picked up 36 keeper crappies with a lot of them weighing close to a pound each. Added 4 big gills for a total of 40 keepers for the day. Caught most on BG baby shads and some on triple tails. On the water at 7:30 and off at 12. Started getting pretty hot and we figured we had plenty so got out of there. My buddy kept all the fish for a family fry. I'll get mine later this week, I hope.

Nice mess of fish. I'm having a hard time getting away from the (crappie) nursery.
If it doesn't get any better I may have to take up golf...
