Rocky Fork Lake Condition

Just an FYI, I drove to Rocky Fork Lake yesterday to test out my new electronics and majority of the lake is still frozen. The West end of the lake is the only place to launch a boat. At that, you can only access the very shallow parts of the lake right now on the West Side. Once you hit about 15 FOW the lake turns to ice.

That's hard to believe (and depressing) it's still frozen. I was thinking RF this weekend.

This weekend is the Catfish Tourney also...DOC (Lange) and Daniel are headed there today to pre-fish...hopefully the ice is gone by the weekend!

Doc and Daniel are there right now (Monday Afternoon) and are destroying Big Kitties...they sent me pics and said the Ice was gone! (??) Daniel said there was just a slushy skim left at the Creek they launched at???

The lake is ice free, I was there Tuesday afternoon at docks on east end and seen one boat at east ramp , looked like he might have been having motor problems. I was going to fish docks but just to much wind for me. The water has a heavy stain to it and lots of wood floating in it.

Made it up to the lake today. Water was pretty dirty. I had no luck at all. I didn't really know what I was doing though. First time using artificial bait for crappie and second time crappie fishing. If any of you made it out and had any luck I would appreciate any tips.

Fished Rocky fork today

Fish we're deeper today on cover ...... Got em swimming jigs mostly on the main lake .... Southern pro baby shad in Popsicle color ...... Tried shallow multiple times through out the day with no luck ...... Had to fish deeper...... Wind was a pain ..... Water was defiantly muddy...... Saw Y-slabs with a gewber in his pajamas ......
