Fish we're deeper today on cover ...... Got em swimming jigs mostly on the main lake .... Southern pro baby shad in Popsicle color ...... Tried shallow multiple times through out the day with no luck ...... Had to fish deeper...... Wind was a pain ..... Water was defiantly muddy...... Saw Y-slabs with a gewber in his pajamas ......
x2 what James reports. the gewber was harry's partner! guess i need to enforce a dress code or have his wife check him before sending him to school

Thanks for the info. I agree the wind was a pain especially in my little boat. I had my 4 year old with me I'm just glad he still had fun even though we didn't catch fish. He wasn't ready to give up though.

Keep him fishing ..... I started my son out young like that..... He's gonna be 15 soon ..... We've made some fantastic memories ....... Learn how to find off shore cover ( ie brush piles / stake beds / stumps etc ) with your electronics ...... Vertical fish them or cast to them with jigs ..... Your catch rate will improve drastically

Thanks a lot guys. Yes I can't wait for the memories I plan to make with my son. He absolutely loves to fish and I am very thankful for that. Yes I was searching out deeper up to 14 ft looking for some type of structure to fish but just was not very successful. I don't know if I was out deep enough or not either. I just need time on the water and more time getting help from the great people on this site.

I was in 8 to 10 ft..... I very rarely fish deeper than that..... And defiantly never target cover deeper than 14ft....... Not saying some one couldn't be successful doing so in our area..... Just never had to , and I find it easier to just ignore anything deeper when looking for cover ( suspended fish are a different matter) ...... Cuts down a lot of the lake ..... Makes it easier to find stuff.... Basically makes big water fish smaller..... That's what works for me any how..........

Thanks for the info. I guess I just need to get a lot better at reading my electronics and finding structure. I hope to get back out next weekend again so maybe I can get some more practice and have better luck. My son is already wanting to head back out.

Has anyone make it back out on the water lately? I am thinking of heading back up in a bit and was just wondering what the water temp has been and if it was still muddy?

Well I made it back out on the lake today. For me fishing was the same. Water was clearer and 43 degrees. I couldn't get bit. Still trying to learn hoe to use my sonar and locate fish.

I was there Sunday afternoon for about an hour , fishing docks by marina east end and only had two bites caught two crappie . Both were in 25' of water and caught them 3' off the bottom. didn't have much time to fish was just getting out for a few.
