Why do you want ice??? Good fish are biting now, if you get out of the Marina!
Plenty of no wind days to get the boats out and vertical fish, or to hit new areas around the lake...you can fish all around the cabins, camping area, Crabil house, West bank, Sand Bar, etc...plus it's a lot safer!
Amazing that guys will sit on the ice and catch aquarium fish in the Marina, but nice weather like this, they act like they are lost????

    Brent,

Man dude I finally got to see the video of the Keitech Crazy Flapper!!! Dude that is one sick bait that I am going to grab a hold of and work harder than a stripper pole at Diamonds Cabaret. That is amazing. Keitech has a good thing going and I have always had a hard time finding a good craw that gives good action. Most are stiff and just plain sloppy.

The Crazy Flapper looks totally the opposite. Lots of movement even when sitting still, based on the video they released. Do you have any insight as to when they are releasing them to the general public. If they are as good as the video shows I'm selling all my other craws and going strictly with the Keitech Crazy Flapper. Sorry if this sounds like a sales pitch, this whole deal with only being able to hit the water a couple times a month due to the holidays and other things got this boy all wounded up tighter than a banjo string. I just wanna get this bait and start flipping the docks in the marina with it.

Here is a pic of the bait for those who may have not seen it yet.....

The segments are what I really like. I think that is what is providing so much movement. It is not stiff at the claw joints.

Here's the video they release for them as well....

Brent can you tell me a little about the durability of the plastic they are using for their baits. Are they pretty durable? I know you talk about being able to reuse the swimmers a lot but was wondering if they are using the same formula for other baits as well. Are the baits soft compared to other soft plastics?

I love the fact that they are releasing 3 different sizes as well.

Thanks Brent for mentioning these in a post. Now I'm all worked up and will most likely be dreaming of these tonight catching that monster largemouth on CJ. I will get him sometime soon!!!!

Come on spring!!!! The ICE can STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

You got that right Cjpolecat. I'm busting blood vessels.

Anyone heading out just to wet a line in the next few days. I think I'm going to get out Wednesday or Thursday.

Debating on taking out the boat. What's the water like to those who have been out recently? If I don't take the boat out thinking about hitting the main docks, marina, and over by Crabil house. Any places I may be missing that could produce a little action if I work it right. What's the dam situation? I know it was mentioned they were doing some work.

The Plastic on the Mad Wag and the Craw bodies are more durable than the swimmers....swimmers have to be super soft to make the tail function like it does. MEND-IT is still your best friend for ALL of your plastics. This is what I have been talking about...the Japanese make baits to catch fish instead of just trying to make a buck like most other companies....I can say this, the engineering that goes into Kei's baits are second to none. To the Japanese, fishing is comparable to religion, their waters are some of the most heavily pressured IN THE WORLD...Kei has been decided to make baits that catch fish in any conditions.
I expect them to be released in Feb, but I will give you a shout out as soon as I hear.

The Dam is fine, they just added more boulder higher on the base from where the others left off...guess they are expecting a 1000 year flood.
The entire campground area is good also.... remember, you can walk around the entire lake and there are some deep holes reachable from shore.

I fished last on the 27th and the water is fine, no ice, no issues at the boat ramp....you can cover ALOT more deeper water by boat, but that is up to you!
    Sending you a PM.

Cjpolecat the great thing about the way they have made this bait is that it has a recessed hook area. I love that fact that companies have gone to this. It is almost like you get to phantom hook the bait twice but I have found I get better hook sets when they have the recessed hook zone. I will say that I bet if you rigged it right you are weedless. When I run mine I could flip and pitch the cj dam rocks all day and maybe only lose 3 baits due to snags.

I started using this rig some last year just to try it out and I really liked it. I read about it after using those segmented jig heads. This rig is called the jika rig. It's made with a hook, split rings, and weight.

I just put these together myself so I can adjust my weights. I started reading articles about them to see what type of materials people were using. I threw one together tonight quick for the pic so I am missing just 1 more split ring.

I normally make it with a size 3 split ring attached to my 3/0 or 4/0 hook. Then use a size 2 split ring attached to my weight. I experimented with stick style dropshot weights as well as some of my homemade snagless weights (that's what some makers call them but I cannot for sure say they are snagless.).

I really liked this rig a little more then the segmented jig heads. This rig seemed to have more feel but also more movement as well as allowed the bait to float a little higher off bottom.

If anyone wants me to make some for ya to try out let me know and I can get enough supplies ordered to send you all a few to try out.
