I was out early this morning until about 10:00. Flat calm - water temp as high as 81 in the middle, 30 inches down. It was very slow, seemingly for everyone. I found a number of bluegills on the jig and one 17" Walleye which I returned to the drink.
I imagine the vast majority of the pollution is from goose poop. They really have become a problem in a lot of places. I'd be up for blasting a few but I don't have a clue how to go about it once the season opens.

The Bad thing is the damn "poop factories" are like deer, they know exactly where to go to be safe during hunting season....we need to blast them during their spawn and surprise them.:):):)lol
What size jig do you use for Canada Goose?

Here's another thing on the goose situation. As I was putting in at the ramp this morning there was the usual flock on foot. As they crossed the road in front of me I noticed one of them limping. Looking closer a few minutes later I saw at least three that had a serious leg problem. They won't let you get too close, of course, but it looks like each of them has gotten wrapped up with fishing line and it's cutting off the circulation and nerve connections to those legs. I'm no fan of those crap factories but you don't like to see anything suffer. Dispose of line properly folks.

I have as well as the neighbor that I fish checked and cleaned line out of our lower units several time this year alone.
People need to realize that it takes a long time for line to deteriorate so it can and will attach it self to anything alive or not.I put any line in a pouch behind a seat and keep it at home. Have yet to take it to BP as I think they still have a disposal barrel for line.
Cousin Steve, I have a remedy for your anchor problem, buy a " Harley" They are highly recommended.

Hanging in there, still looking down at the grass.. got a good queston for someone, if the fish are full of ecoli and all of the other junk, when will they be safe to eat again???

I look at it this way...I EAT ALOT OF FISH.....so toxins and poisons are my biggest concern!
A fish's gills, act like our lungs...they transport oxygen from the water and transfer it to the blood system. Any Gas or molecule the same size or smaller can also transfer, just like in our lungs. Toxins in fish accumulate in the internal organs and fat, if vessels are feeding the muscles, they are also depositing toxins there also...also when a fish eats another it absorbs all of those toxins that are stored...if the government can advise on toxins like PCB's or heavy metals in fish meat, they should also assume other poisons and toxins will be deposited. Blue/Green algae would fall into this category! IMHO, even if the outbreaks stops, I still wouldn't eat the fish for a couple years, and then only younger fish!
E-coli is different, it is a bacteria that does not seem to effect fish or accumulate in them...normally it will follow the digestive system of a fish and be excreted back into the lake....I figure once the outbreak stops, the fish will be safe to eat after a few weeks...just give the lake time to clear and flush the bacteria out. You will kill any leftover bacteria also with proper cooking!
