Default Cowan Lake H P Limits NO CHANGE!

    FYI to all!

Horsepower Limits to Remain the Same at Cowan Lake

COLUMBUS, OH –The 10 horsepower limit at Cowan Lake will remain the same in 2014, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

“Public meetings were held this past winter, and the public feedback was evenly split on either side of the horsepower issue,” said Gary Obermiller, chief of the ODNR Division of Watercraft. “We are going to take more time to study this possible change at Cowan Lake.”

Public input was sought after the department received requests to increase the horsepower that would allow boats to operate at idle speed.

ODNR is contacting all permit holders who have planned activities that may have relied on the expectation of a change in horsepower.

For boaters looking for lakes that offer increased horsepower opportunities, consider visiting the following state parks and wildlife areas: Knox Lake, Lake La Su An, Oxbow, Rupert and Burr Oak. More information on these and all boating opportunities is available at ohiodnr.gov.

ODNR ensures a balance between wise use and protection of our natural resources for the benefit of all. Visit the ODNR website at ohiodnr.gov.

Heard the public comment for Acton was in favor for keeping the 10 hp limit too. I think the people that have rented docks at these lakes are the ones calling to keep the restrictions. This sucks was hoping to get rid of the kicker motor this year.
