Default Buckeye Crappie Challenge Tournament Schedule

    Schedule is out:

    Buckeye Lake 04/20/13
    Grand Lake St Mary's 04/27/13
    Deer Creek Lake 05/11/13
    CJ Brown Lake 05/18/13
    Caesars Creek 08/03/13
    Paint Creek 09/14/13
    East Fork 09/28/13
    Rocky Fork-Classic 10/12/13

Really only takes 4 tournaments to qualify and there's a good number of them in Southwest Ohio this year, including the Classic. Hope to see you all there!

I've never fished any crappie tourney's but would love to participate this year. How can I sign up? Are they all individual or partner tourney's? Thanks

All are partner tournaments, but you can fish alone. One of negatives for me is Buckeye requires someone to attend seminar night before,
so depending on distance you may have to stay someplace overnight or leave really early & drive an hour or more.
All are a lot of fun & super competitive. Some great area fishermen attend these.
If you've never fished any, you need to do at least one for the experience.

I believe there are going to be a number of rules changes this year that should make it all easier. For example, no more live well checks prior to the tournament. Instead, you'll be able to launch from anywhere on the lake at 6:00AM, but not start fishing until 7:00AM (naturally, if you get caught fishing before then, DQ'd). Stop time will still be 3:00PM. The seminar is mandatory for a couple reasons, including communicating any rule changes for that particular tournament, but I like to go to them to see everybody. Also a chance to go have dinner with folks, etc. One of the best aspects of tournaments is just getting together, but that's also a chance to learn quite a bit. If you have to stay at a hotel to attend, that adds some cost, but if you're prefishing on Friday, the cost of the gas (at least in my truck) if you had to go back and forth to the lake twice just about offsets the cost of the hotel. I've set up a few of the host hotels, and was able to keep Buckeye and CJ Brown under $50/night plus taxes. Others are more, but there are other options too.

If you've got questions, PM me and I'll do my best to answer them.

It would be nice to see the sub rule changed so you can use one anytime, not have to get the first 3 in.

    I agree with Osker,
should be able to have a sub anytime
(after all you only have 7 dates with most dates scheduled close together in spring time frame)
This rule put our team out before season even started, due to partners work schedule prior to first 3 dates.
Also, maybe 2 sub day limit per year, per team.

We may not be able to make the first one because of the rule.
