EnonEye, braid is a tricky beast. Mono is like a rubber band compared to braid. Often times with braid, your not ripping it out, but your beating the fish to the punch. Any movement on braid and you feel it, so you set the hook, often times before the fish has even got it in their mouth.(sight fishing is how i figured this out)

If you tame down your hookset, and loosen your drag(braid is bad about breaking on hard hook sets), you'll be ok.

A good "split the difference" is florocarbon, less strech than mono, not as wire like as braid.
