Does anyone know a good service shop? I noticed a slight slip when my truck was in gear yesterday. I don't need to get ripped off for something that's not wrong with my truck.

I thought I liked AAMCO but, they rebuilt my transmission 7 months ago (18,000 miles since) and it left me stranded on the road last Monday. Well, 8 business days later, they rebuilt it again. (still under warranty) They said the torque converter was bad. Not happy that it took 8 days for a warranty repair so I don't think I would recommend them.

any halfway decent Tranny shop would tell you anytime you rebuild or replace the transmission you flush the cooler even if it's in radiator and replace converter. The converter has the same wear on it as the tranny. Any metal from tranny will get into converter and cooler and lines. Put in new tranny fill with fluid, fire it up and your pumping that dirt right into you new tranny.

Approx 103 K miles. 99 Tacoma. For the most part it runs good. At times I notice if I don't come to a complete stop it will slip then go into gear.

When was the last time you serviced it? Might just need a filter change. Don't even drive by AAMCo if you don't have to.

I bought the car with around 93K on it. I have never had the transmission serviced since buying it. Hopefully that is the only thing I need to do and the problem will be fixed. I didn't want to take it anywhere and have someone give me the "shade tree" language and get me for extra money for something that is minor to repair.
