Thread: Cabelas guide wear pfd

Looking for inflatable life vest . Have seen several use these but see that they are not H.i.t . (not guaranteed not to open in a rain downpour ) Those having these ,have you had issues with rain causing them to inflate ?

Have not fished in rain but mine did go off while in storage under front deck from moisture that eroded the salt tablet. But! At least I know it works! I believe you are supposed to change out the canister and the salt every two years or so and pressure check the vest by inflating the vest once a year. Never go without mine. No matter how good a swimmer you may be if you hit you head on the way out of the boat ya might not swim so good. Good luck....

I dont wear mine in the rain

So if this is not a popular life vest what are most buying ? H.i.t. models ?

Wear mine all the time, if in rainy weather it is under my rain suit.

I have 2 Basspro brand and a mustang. No problems with any of them.

Nothing wrong with Cabellas..In rainy weather I wear a regular vest...I'm not sure it would work properly if worn under my rain suit..

I would buy which ever has a store close. enough to get replacement CO2 cartridges easily.
