1. Use distilled vinegar to clean. It takes out all the smell and nasties. 1 gallon vinegar and finish filling with water. Scrub and let sit for 24 hours. Dump and rinse. Ready for minnows again.
2. Wash with dawn soap. Dump. Rinse. Add 1 box baking soda(arm and hammer). Fill with water. Let stand for 24 hours.
Vinegar is a non toxic cleaner. I clean my livewells at the end of each season. Bleach works too but spills are a disaster. Bleach evaporates.
Baking soda neutralizes soaps.
