Gosh, I feel like I have a little overkill now. Have two electric furnaces, one heat pump, a wood burning fireplace in my living room , a gas log stove upstairs dining room and another in my downstairs family room. I want to be able to keep the house warm in case the power goes out.

Yep...I am with you on that Chris....Got gas and electric heat both in my house....got a good generator too.
Yep, he's fine, just a little slice of Desoto County history. Remembers those days well and makes me scratch my head wondering if there are still fish in those ponds I fished as a kid. Now houses are built around a lot of them pasture ponds, folks let us fish and we fished a bunch of them. Fished the gravel pits on the south end of Greenbrook Pkwy, now there are apartments build there where the pits were, been waiting for them to fall in.
since when has there been Tennessee addresses in Mississippi?
ha...consider the source :Rofl he still believes in the easter bunny too :Rofl
Hmmmmm. And I thought there was a new rule about getting Off Topic in a thread. [emoji848][emoji848][emoji848][emoji23]

When Southaven started, before they were assigned a postal code. You could address mail to Whitehaven, 16 Tenn or Southaven, 16 Miss, later 38116 which is Whitehaven, TN 38116. It had it's own delivery route from the post office on Marlin rd.
That area was settled in the mid 1800s . Now granted ... a Whitehaven developer built a few middle income subdivisions that would later become Southaven. But , Mississippi had zip codes and addresses in that area long before Southaven was even a thought. Like 150 years before Southaven.
Agree with you there. That area had Horn Lake's zip code. My dad rebuilt cars as a hobby. There were 4 junkyards on hwy 51 with Horn Lake address that are in Southaven now or were. I don't know what or when it happened. We used a barber on Stateline rd just as Southaven was started. On his permit I noticed the address was Horn Lake. At a later date I noticed Southaven was on it.
Watching WREC news now. MLGW is asking you to reset your thermostat to 60. They hope this will reduce the chance of outages.
I use to do in home service work and thought I was in an oven set on high in some of them.
I was grown before Southaven was a city, unincorporated when I moved there in 1974. Desoto County now is like one big town, not much country living going on in them parts now a days
Ok . I surrender. I guess we can all agree on a few things :
1) desoto county has changed tremendously in the last 20 years . Mainly for the worst .
2) all the dairys are gone , I think there's only 1 left in county.
3) a lake that lies in the SW corner of desoto county may hold the next world record.
4) Canebreaker is a pretty cool guy , and needs to run for mayor of Southaven, MS or TN or whatever mailing address it is.
I'll claim I was drawn off topic on this one. Speck changed the subject from electric oil filled radiator heaters to propane/kerosene heaters. feeshrman changing it to natural gas. Snubby with his Home Depot freezer. Dutchman wanting to know about the interchange when I was explaining about the missing propane tank.
I've checked. I'm not the owner I can't put a propane tank here. The owner can. Would he keep my deposit on the tank or return it?
I think the subject was heaters.....then it went to imminent domain and property issues with the state....then exit ramps in different locations....and other properties scattered around.....then it went to post offices and zip codes......all subjects that you posted about unrelated to heaters. Just saying......and you wonder why others do not understand. And then of course others started talking about some of these other subjects that you brought up as well including me......but i think you will have to agree it is a very confusing thread. And Dutch has a good idea......you need to run for Mayor of Southhaven.
Lol.....lets keep it kid friendly and family oriented please
1. I moved to Whitehaven when I was 6 in 1956. My dad had a cousin that lived on hwy 51 where the Southaven Arena is now. I spent a lot of time there growing up with his kids. I've watched the area go from farm and dairy land to what it is today. A bit over 60 years.
2. I don't know if there's one left. The last one I know of was on Goodman rd where Walmart is now. It was a feed lot really. They used the milk to make Top's dogfood. It was the last stand of Gayoso Farms.
3. I think that lake is in NW part of the county, Lakeview. I don't think we'll ever know.
4. No thanks, that would be work, cut into my gardening, camping, kayaking and fishing time. I would have to give up my welfare check.

Good one John.
I do not know why you cant lease a propane tank with out being the owner......i have never been asked if i was the owner and i have never had to pay a deposit........just lease the tank for 40 bucks a year and buy the gas from them. Oh when you run for mayor you need to pass out some hats that say.....Lets make Southavin great again.:Rofl
I’m not trying to be a smart*** but if you have to own property to get propane, then how do renters get it? I think I would just purchase a tank and have a propane company fill it. Just pay for the amount of propane you buy?

G, I drive up Airways about once a month. There is a pallet/box company that puts scrap wood at the gate. I see people getting it for their wood stoves all the time. If I was mayor there would be a lots of stove wood.
Use that in your campaign......free fire wood for every voter
Its all Specks fault:Rofl
I don't know, was what I was told. Maybe a county or city rule.
Back when the valve was swapped on the 20 lb propane tanks I picked up a bunch from people's trash piles. You could swap them for a refilled tank with the new valve back then. Then they started charging a fee if you swapped in an old style. Anyone that wanted to do that I would give them an old style tank and a coupon that cost them $3 for the swap. I have 17 new style and 4 old style, only 5 filled.
I have a jet heater that I can hook up to a tank if need be. I used it a few years back when power was off for 2 days. It stinks and dries the air to much and had to keep some windows open. I had to snort water so I could blow my nose.
now I guess we got to get started on lakeview??? Only fished it as a young lad. Premier bream lake ( and I mean premier) back then for us . We crappie fished the big 4 . I know lakeview is a great crappie lake, but what evidence do you have that it will produce a bigger fish than butla?? We all know the size bulta produces.
Butla can be hit or miss if you don't fish the right spot or the right time of the year. Of that I've seen and had strings of hogs. That sweat spot ought to be on fire in about a month.
Can't get on Lakeview anymore unless something changes. The run off and hole were hot spots if you fished them the right time of year. My dad and uncles taught me a lot about that lake before their passing. 2 of my uncles fished it when you rented touring boats for the day. I took my wife and 4 year old grandson to the run off. No room for another boat. We caught a lot of crappie 2 1/2 to 3 lbers. There was a small snake running it's course through the boats. Debbie was ready to leave right then. Seth said, Ah Mimi it's just a banded water snake, let me catch it.
So, what is the actual subject line? The multiple personalities of cane breaker? The election of the rules committee?? Or is this MS Geography 101.big.4.slab.TN???

Hey Band, I like open forum, no rules, no one to get mad at because you off topic my thread. I tried off topiced, it's not a word by spell check. Keep this thread going as long as it will, change subject as it has, I don't care, Love it. Keep it family friendly since we don't have an Off Off Topic anymore.
I hate when someone ask a question. In an answer someone tells a story of how they do, did or don't do it that way and the OP cries to a mod because of your reply, you're off topic. I might have been off topic, but I did reply and gave my answer. Don't like my answer and story, don't post the question.
I don't like business people with short fingers. That will only be answered in a PM.
There is still a Way Off Topic Forum Jimmy.....look at the index page

Canebreaker for mayor !!! Make Southaven, TN great again !!!!
Done tolt you he likes girls!!!!!!:Rofl
Well y'all was busy last night, good laugh with the coffee this AM. I somewhat agree on the going off topic especially if a thread has been answered and about run it's course. Let's face it, if your coming to a crappie forum to learn about heaters then the bulb is glowing pretty dimly anyhow. Just imagine if there was a new thread created every time one went slightly off track, this thread alone would have spun off at least a dozen others. Keep up the good work canebreaker, you always keep me interested! I second the nomination Jimmy for mayor of SouthHornLakeWhiteHaven, MS zip code to be determined :highfive
