    Default Minners

Now that it has cooled down quite a bit I think I'm gonna start my tank up. Where does everyone buy from?

The heat is coming up here for the next week or better. I'm sure it will heat up down that way as well.
    No tank needed with cranks!

Don't have pulling racks or ultrex yet! Drowning minners and power trolling has been my only games this summer!

Either go to Arkansas and buy them or come down to the bait shops around here and hit up 5 of them. Ask for 4 dozen in each store and you will get about 8 dozen each time. But if you ask for 8 dozen you will get 10 or so dozen so it's best to buy from multiple stores. Ha. Sounds crazy but I'm serious. You save lots of money. Arkansas has the best minnow prices though.

Where I figured I'd have to go! Wasn't sure if I could meet a truck somewhere that was Grenada bound or meet em somewhere. Tadpoles large was a little "large" for my liking and his mediums were too small I felt. I like Grenada larges and chuck stop normally has good minners, not sure on the #'s each is tho.

Saul's farm in DeValls Bluff, AR is the closest, about 105 miles one way. Got to buy 6 pounds to get dealer discount.
Call for prices, Harry Saul Minnow Farm - forage fish minnows, grow trophy bass, fathead minnows

Best minnows out there by far and fine folks to do business with. Their minnows are graded correct, if you buy mediums you get mediums! If you buy 12's or bass minnows you get 12's not 6's and 8's with a few 12's mixed it. If you want a mix they will weigh up minnows out of different tanks but the tanks are graded correct. Ms. Margie is a sweet heart to do business with! I'm lucky to live about 45 minutes from them.

You can buy 5lbs of 12's (mediums are cheaper) for what you pay for 1.5lb of mixed 4 to number 6 minnows that are supposed to be 8's or mediums at bait shops in AR and MS. I can't speak for the new bait shop at Grenada, I plan to give them a try soon, just hard to pass up going to Sauls after some crappie.com members told me about them. I tried several other minnow farms in my area. Good prices but still got poorly graded and sized minnows.

I was buying minnows from Sauls on Thursdays or Fridays during July and August, keeping them in a tank at our place at Enid with aeration equipment that I bought from Sauls. I would lose from 1 to 2 dozen from weekend to weekend. I would change water as soon as I got there before I put new minnows in the tank that I had just brought over.

I have not bought minnows there in about 3 weeks. I will be firing up the tank again in a couple of weeks if weather holds and harvest winds down.

If I ran a bait shop my minnows would come from Sauls if I had to pick them up myself.
