    So, for my 2014 GMC. I can either get an additional trans cooler or press the button in the end of the attached pic, or both. I drive around 65 or so, and in OD it will downshift occasionally on a long hill. I don't know the rearend ratio, but it's for mileage, not hauling. Pulling a WE 861. Any comments appreciated.

    Engaging the towing button holds the trans in the lower gears for a longer time so the engine and trans are not lugging trying to pull the extra load and some of them also keep the overdrive from engaging. It does effect the mileage but trans repairs are expensive so everyone has to make their own decision as whether or not to use it.

    Gene on my 2015 GMC....i always push the tow haul button.....pulls my boat fine.....pulls my camper fine. The tow haul button does two things....changes shift points to keep tranny in the lower gears a little longer plus it turns off the over drive.
