    Default Eye Replacement

How hard is it to replace an eye or two on a pole?

I've built some rods in the past and IMO it would be harder to get the old eye base off and the rod cleaned up than it would to wrap and epoxy a new one in place. Of course, my typical mode of operation any more is a few wraps with black electrical tape and good to go.

Not hard John. Need some wrapping thread and a couple of heavy books, run thread through bottom pages of bottom book and put another book or something for weight on top of first book to create tension on thread. Super glue guide foot on rod start your wrap and then just spin rod section in hands to wrap . Once thread gets a few wraps on got start pushing thread back against itself with thumb nail. Watch a couple of YouTube videos to see how to tie it off use varnish to seal threads. Harder to say than do.

I'd figure a diff way to transport them. Gotta be a way to put something soft there or take some tension off. Live and we learn but we gotta change a few things to get better.

I replaced a eye on a rod last night . I just super glued the eye in place to hold it while I then took dental floss( I use to use this a lot when working on bowstrings and it is very strong and last pretty good also) and wrapped it back and forth several wraps. Then I used a black marker to color the white floss. After that I glued everything down heavily with super glue. Looked pretty good so I will see how time will tell on doing it this way.
Be safe and good luck fishing
