Most have a lower front deck also....and usually wider giving more room for two side by side seats up on front deck.

Sounds like something like that may be my next boat. The older I get the more I want to fish in a boat instead of on top of it.

I think the key word here is BIG. If you know how to use what you have and it's BIG enough, you can handle anything that's thrown at you. A novice helmsman will get in trouble with a battleship, much less a 20-24' fishing boat.
