Not any big deal....Find your caliper or go to car parts store and buy one.Measure outer diameter (OD)of the ski pylon.Whatever it is try to match as close as possible with a hole saw(as in hole saw for wood).Bore a hole through a 2x6 approximately the pylon OD (error on the small side).Use a 1/4 x 6" drill bit to bore two holes through the 6"distance about 2" from both sides of the pylon hole you made. (You are in the process of making a pylon clamp). Now run 5/16 x 6" lag bolts through the 1/4 " holes and remove.Mark top of 2x6 with majic marker across top.Use table saw, circle saw,or hand saw to cut your clamp lengthwise down a line in the center.
Sounds like a lot,but it's not...
Put your clamp around the pylon and install your lag bolts.Tighten bolts with clamp an inch or two from the carpet.Use wood blocks and 4' 2x4's next to clamp to pry pylon up and out .Adjust your clamp up/down to best pry spot.
If that needs any clarification I will help you.
Reward yourself with a cold one--That wasn't so bad was it?
